God IS One

1 Timothy 2:5

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father

My mother came to know the Lord when she was a child. It was in a Baptist Church in the rural village where she lived in the municipality of Colon, Matanzas Province. Today, she is a member of the Presbyterian-Reformed Church in Guanabacoa, where she feels deeply loved, and she serves as the coordinator of the Prayer Ministry and the ministry that visits the sick in the community.

On the other hand, my eldest daughter came to know the Lord at the Pentecostal Church, and I am a member of the First Baptist Church of Guanabacoa, where I have been attending for over ten years.

I feel that, despite all these well-trodden paths to the Lord, my family and I feel that we are members of a single Church–the Church of Christ, the universal Church. This is the place where He will come to seek out His followers and offer them the gift of His salvation, for as Christians we share the same Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

That is why I feel a deep sadness when I see the divisions that exist among the various denominations. Rather than focusing on our differences, which date back to the Reformation, I believe we should focus on the Great and Almighty God who calls us day after day to unity and service.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for your children; we recognize that we are all brothers and sisters and children of the same Father. Work, Lord, in the hearts of those who do not think the same way. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Porque por medio de Él los unos y los otros tenemos entrada por un mismo Espíritu al Padre

Mi madre conoció al Señor cuando era niña. Fue en una Iglesia Bautista del pueblito rural donde vivía, en el municipio de Colón, provincia de Matanzas. Hoy día es miembro de la Iglesia Presbiteriana-Reformada en Guanabacoa, donde se siente muy amada y es coordinadora del Ministerio de la Oración y la visitación a enfermos de la comunidad.

Por otra parte, mi hija mayor, conoció al Señor en la Iglesia Pentecostal, y yo, soy miembro de la Primera Iglesia Bautista de Guanabacoa, lugar en el que me congrego por más de diez años.

Siento que, a pesar de todos estos caminos trillados para llegar al Señor, mi familia y yo, nos sentimos miembros de una sola Iglesia, la Iglesia de Cristo; iglesia universal. Este es el lugar donde Él vendrá a buscar a sus seguidores para ofrecerles el regalo de su Salvación, pues como cristianos tenemos un mismo Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.

Es por eso que hay en mí profunda tristeza cuando veo las divisiones que existen entre las distintas denominaciones. Lejos de mirar nuestras diferencias, marcadas en la Reforma, pienso que debemos estar enfocados en el Dios, Grande y Todopoderoso que nos llama día tras día a la Unidad y al Servicio.

Oración: Gracias Señor por tus hijos que reconocemos que todos somos hermanos e hijos de un mismo Padre. Obra Señor, en aquellos que no piensan igual. Por Cristo, nuestro Señor. Amén.
