THE HOLY SPIRIT, SOURCE OF ALL TRUTH

John 16:12-15

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

John 16:13 (NIV)

In this passage, Jesus promises the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who would lead the disciples into all truth. These words were addressed to the apostolic community at a time of uncertainty and farewell. It was not a matter of abstract truth, but rather of the full revelation of Christ’s redemptive work and his conscious self-giving for the establishment of the Kingdom of God among us.

We recognize that the Spirit is the source of all truth and that he enlightens our understanding so that we may faithfully comprehend the Word and action of God amidst the unfolding of history. The Spirit glorifies Christ and leads us toward a deeper and more authentic faith.

In times when contradictory voices, superficial messages, and deceptions abound, we need to place our entire trust in the Holy Spirit to discern the truth he wishes to communicate to us. That truth is the truth that proceeds from the Father and the Son. This certainty sustains the Cuban church amidst complex and challenging social and economic contexts, much like those being experienced in every other part of the world.

Prayer: Lord God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we give you thanks for the gift of your Holy Spirit. Enlighten our minds to correctly discern your voice and your truth; enable us to comprehend your Word with faithfulness, and guard our hearts against all confusion. May your Spirit always lead us to Christ, the foundation and truth of our faith. Amen.

EL ESPÍRITU SANTO, FUENTE DE TODA VERDAD

Juan 16:12-15

Cuando venga el Espíritu Santo, él les dirá lo que es la verdad y los guiará, para que siempre vivan en la verdad

Juan 16:13

En este pasaje Jesús promete la guía del Espíritu Santo, quien conduciría a los discípulos a toda la verdad. Estas palabras fueron dirigidas a la comunidad apostólica en un momento de incertidumbre y despedida. No se trataba de una verdad abstracta, sino de la revelación plena de la obra redentora de Cristo y de su entrega consiente por el establecimiento del Reino de Dios entre nosotros/as.

Reconocemos que el Espíritu es la fuente de toda verdad y que él ilumina el entendimiento para comprender fielmente la Palabra y la Acción de Dios en medio de la historia. Él glorifica a Cristo y nos conduce a una fe más profunda y auténtica.

En tiempos donde abundan voces contradictorias, mensajes superficiales y engañosos, necesitamos poner toda nuestra confianza en el Santo Espíritu para discernir la verdad que Él nos quiere comunicar. Esa verdad, es la verdad que procede del Padre y del Hijo. Esta certeza sostiene a la iglesia cubana en medio de contextos sociales y económicos complejos y desafiantes, como los que también se viven en cualquier lugar del mundo.

Oración: Señor Dios, Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, te damos gracias por el don de tú Espíritu Santo. Ilumina nuestra mente para discernir correctamente tú voz y tú verdad. comprender tú Palabra con fidelidad y guarda nuestro corazón de toda confusión. Que tú Espíritu nos conduzca siempre a Cristo, fundamento y verdad de nuestra fe. Amén.
