ALWAYS LOOK TO CHRIST

John 15:18-21

They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.

John 15:21b (NIV)

Jesus prepares his disciples for the worst, for he himself has endured much injustice and knows what still lies ahead. He speaks to them in this way, not to frighten them, nor to have them brace themselves for “battle,” but rather so that they may keep their gaze fixed upon him: upon his compassionate way of acting, of giving himself, of teaching, and of serving...regardless of whatever treatment they may receive from others.

Jesus reminds them that a truth has been revealed to them, one unknown to others,,and that no one can give what they do not carry within themselves; thus, they should not expect to receive the very things they have been empowered to offer. He is holding them accountable for their reactions in the face of rejection, asking them to shift their perspective toward the world, for the world is under no obligation to love them, but rather must learn from the example they are capable of modeling for it, even amidst the direst circumstances.

Whatever your experience may be in bringing the Father’s love to others, fix your gaze upon the conduct of Christ, so that you may discern the next step to take. You have been chosen, not to conquer others, but to demonstrate to them the very love that was revealed to you.

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for choosing me once again today. I will strive with all my strength to become more like you. Amen.

MIRAR A CRISTO SIEMPRE

Juan 15:18-21

Jesús prepara a sus discípulos para lo peor, porque Él mismo ha vivido mucha injusticia, y sabe lo que aún está por venir. Y les habla así no para asustarlos, no para que se preparen para “el combate”, sino para que mantengan la mirada puesta en Él, en su manera compasiva de proceder, de entregarse, de enseñar, de servir… a pesar de recibir lo que venga de los demás.

Jesús les recuerda que a ellos les ha sido revelada una verdad que no conocen otros, y que nadie puede dar lo que no lleva dentro, así que ellos no deben esperar recibir, lo mismo que sí han sido capacitados para ofrecer. Él los está responsabilizando de sus respuestas ante el rechazo, les está pidiendo que cambien su perspectiva hacia el mundo, porque el mundo no tiene por qué amarlos, sino que debe aprender de lo que ellos sean capaces de modelarles, aun, en las peores circunstancias.

Sea cual fuere tu experiencia llevando a otros el amor del Padre, pon tu mirada en el proceder de Cristo, para que puedas entender el próximo paso a seguir. Eres escogido, no para vencer a otros, sino para mostrarles el amor que te fue revelado a ti.

Oración: Gracias Jesús por escogerme nuevamente hoy, intentaré ser más parecida a ti, con todas mis fuerzas. Amén
