THE TEMPLE OF GOD

1 Corinthians 3:1-17

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit dwells in you? 

1 Corinthians 3:16 (NRSV)

            We know that for the human being who does not love, especially with the definition of love that I Corinthians gives us, life becomes a hell or a false prosperity. This can be translated at the political-social level into effective policies in health, educational, food, etc.

            On the personal level, by accepting Christ as our Redeemer and rector of our daily doing and saying, we are already temples of the love that is God.  God is not seen, felt, or empowered by acting. Faith, hope, and love are not seen until we become the temple of the Lord. Paul said, “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” That concept must lead us to a different behavior than we previously had. This new path leads us to holiness for it is the only one which leads one towards full happiness that does not exclude pitfalls or problems to be faced. They are inevitable but they never defeat us. Haven’t you ever felt it? As He departed for the Father, Jesus said to the disciples and us, “In the world you will have affliction, but take courage, I have overcome the world.”

 

Prayer: Father of all love we thank you, knowing that we have the great privilege of being your temples as ambassadors of your kingdom here on earth. For Jesus. Amen.

EL TEMPLO DE DIOS

1 Corintios 3:1-17

¿No saben que ustedes son templo de Dios y que el Espíritu de Dios habita en ustedes?

1 Corintios 3:16

            Sabemos que el ser humano que no ame, y sobre todo con la definición del amor que nos da 1 Corintios 13, la vida se le convierte en un infierno, o en una falsa prosperidad. Esto se puede traducir a escala político-social en políticas efectivas en servicios sociales de salud, educacionales, alimentarios, etc.

            En el nivel personal, al aceptar a Cristo como nuestro Redentor y rector de nuestro hacer y decir diario, ya somos templos del amor que es Dios. Dios no se ve, se siente y se potencia con el obrar. La fe, la esperanza y el amor no se ven hasta el momento que nos convertimos en templo del Señor. 

            Decía Pablo: “ya no vivo yo, más Cristo vive en mí”.  Ese concepto nos tiene que llevar a un comportamiento diferente al que anteriormente teníamos; ese nuevo camino nos conduce a la santidad, pues es el único hacia la plena felicidad que no excluye escollos o problemas a enfrentar. Son inevitables pero nunca nos vencen. ¿Acaso no lo ha sentido en alguna ocasión? Al partir hacia el Padre, Jesús les dijo a los discípulos y a nosotros: “en el mundo tendréis aflicción, más confiad, yo he vencido al mundo”.

 

Oración: Padre de todo amor, gracias por saber que tenemos el gran privilegio de ser templos tuyos como embajadores de Tu Reino aquí en la Tierra. Por Jesús. Amén.
