ROOT OF ALL EVIL

1 Timothy 6:1-10

The love of money is the root of all evil.

1Timothy 6:10 (NIV)

            Nowhere in the Bible does it say that money is not needed. What is affirmed is the verse that accompanies this reflection. The apostle of Cuban independence, a good Bible reader, recognized that “The exaggerated appetite for wealth is the root of all the nation’s ills.”  (OC volume 1, page 427).

            The Rev. Rafael Cepeda Clemente, in his book The Ethical Christian in the Work of José Martí, selected 70 texts by Martí with the corresponding biblical references. Not many people know this facet of the master and apostle which continued to be a reference for all Cubans, regardless of any political/philosophical thought. The great conflicts that afflict nations are derived from an ambition for money, for material wealth, and/or geopolitical ambitions for power.

            If we are able to understand and apply our total faith and trust that God will guide us in our actions and our unconditional commitment to the mission that he entrusts to us, what we need he will provide in a wonderful and inexplicable way. All of us who belong to that delivery can confirm it with lived and testimonial evidence.

 

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may the material never prevail in our mind, because you always supply us with what we need for your glory and honor. In the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

RAÍZ DE TODOS LOS MALES

1 Timoteo 6:1-10

El amor al dinero es la raíz de todos los males

1Timoteo 6:10

            La Biblia NO dice en ningún lugar que el dinero no hace falta. Lo que sí se afirma es el verso que nos acompaña. El Apóstol de la Independencia Cubana, buen lector bíblico, parafraseando reconocía: “...el apetito exagerado de las riquezas como RAIZ de TODOS los males de la nación”.(OC, Tomo 11 -pag. 427). El Rev. Rafael Cepeda Clemente en su libro LO ÉTICO-CRISTIANO EN LA OBRA DE JOSE MARTI seleccionó 70 textos de Martí con las correspondientes referencias bíblicas. No muchas personas conocen esta faceta del Maestro y Apóstol, que sigue siendo referente de todo cubano, independientemente a cualquier pensamiento político-filosófico.

            Los grandes conflictos que aquejan a las naciones, son derivados de una ambición por dinero, por riquezas naturales y/o ambiciones geopolíticas de poder.

            Si somos capaces de entender y aplicar nuestra total fe y confianza que Dios nos guiará en nuestro proceder y nuestra entrega incondicional a la misión que nos encomiende, lo que necesitemos El lo proveerá de forma maravillosa e inexplicable. Todos los que pertenecemos a esa entrega lo podemos confirmar con evidencias vividas y testimoniales.

 

Oración: Padre Celestial, permite que nunca prime en nuestra mente lo material pues siempre nos suples con lo que necesitemos para tu Gloria y Honra. En El nombre de Nuestro Salvador Jesucristo. Amén.
