FRUITS OF HONESTY

1 Timothy 3: 1-16

He must manage his own household well, keeping his children submissive and respectful in every way

1 Timoteo 3:4 (NRSV)

In the movie titled THE THIEF OF HONESTY with Liam Neeson, we enjoy a thriller where he robs bankers who had not acted fairly with his father. The money, hidden for eight years, changes in importance when he finds himself in love with a virtuous woman. Not knowing how to tell her the truth, he decided to get rid of the money and because of his love, to surrender to the FBI willing to negotiate a minimum penalty, so that he could later on live with his beloved, worth far more than the millions lost.

It is a demonstration of the famous Beatles song MONEY CAN’T BUY ME LOVE. This leads us to reflect on the fact that love for God requires honesty as one of the motivations that drive us, so that we can be dedicated to missions or jobs requiring trustworthiness.

Honesty is cultivated in childhood, but in the case when that stage of life is distorted, we must experience a new birth in Christ, which is another mystery of the marvels of the Holy Spirit. Ask anyone who has lived honestly and you will hear how well they sleep.

Prayer: Father, thank you for the growth of honesty; it is a marvelous balm in life, by which we can enjoy it in peace with everyone and with ourselves. In your name, Amen.

FRUTOS DE LA HONESTIDAD

1 Timoteo 3: 1-16
