Thanksgiving Day

BECAUSE YOU WILL BE WITH ME

Psalm 23

Let my whole being bless the Lord and never forget all his good deeds.

            Today is the End of the Year. Especially since this 2021 has been tense and complicated due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has raged with many deaths, contagions and sufferings in general. It was a year of multiple economic and financial limitations that have given rise to social discontent. A year that was envisioning improved relations between our country and the United States with Joe Biden’s arrival to the White House, but nevertheless, it has not happened.

            Practically every year, like the ones in the past, comes marked with deep crises. This situation of a worldwide pandemic adds more troublesome events to the global warming, forest fires, flooding, and heat waves. In various parts of the planet, wars are a constant state of affairs which displace millions of people.

            Today as we end the year and look to the birth of 2022, Christians cannot stop thanking God for God’s protection, for the solidarity that we have seen in the midst of deficiencies, for the active testimony of the church, even with the inability to meet together. And thanks to God because even though we have been walking in the valley of the shadow of death, we have felt God’s encouraging and comforting presence this year with this feeling and the hopeful message of Psalm 23. 

 

Prayer:  Thank you, O Father, for all of the blessings lavished on us by you in 2021. Give us trust to enter into the new year.  Amen.

Día de Acción de Gracias 

PORQUE TÚ ESTARAS CONMIGO

Salmo 23

Bendice alma mía al Señor, y no olvides ninguna de sus bendiciones

Salmo 103:2

            Hoy es Fin de Año. En especial este 2021 ha sido un año tenso, complejo, debido a la epidemia de la Covid que se ensañó con más muertes, contagios y sufrimientos en general. Fue un año de múltiples limitaciones económicas y financieras que han dado lugar a descontentos sociales. Un año que se avizoraba mejor para nuestro país en sus relaciones con los Estados Unidos tras la llegada a la Casa Blanca de Joe Biden, y sin embargo, no lo ha sido.

            Prácticamente cada año, como los anteriores, viene marcado por profundas crisis. A esta situación epidemiológica mundial se suman eventos agravados por el calentamiento global como incendios forestales, inundaciones, olas de calor. En diversas partes del planeta las guerras son una situación constante que desplaza a millones de personas. 

            Hoy al finalizar el año y en el umbral del 2022, los cristianos no podemos dejar de agradecer a Dios por su protección, por la solidaridad que hemos visto en medio de las carencias, por el testimonio activo de la iglesia, a pesar de estar imposibilitada de congregarse. Y gracias también a Dios porque aunque hemos andado en valles de sombra de muerte, hemos sentido su presencia alentadora y confortadora.el año con este sentimiento y el mensaje esperanzador del Salmo 23.

 

Oración: Gracias Oh Padre, por todas las bendiciones prodigadas por ti en este 2021. Danos confianza para entrar en el nuevo año. Amén.
