GOD’S LOVE

John 13:31-35

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

John 13:34 (NRSV)

            John describes these few moments clearly and in detail. Jesus knew exactly what he was going to face. He knew what would happen with Judas and with Peter, but he didn’t change the situation and didn’t stop loving them. In the same way, Jesus knows what you will do in your moment, but he still loves you and will forgive you unconditionally when you ask him. Judas didn’t understand that, and his life ended tragically. Peter understood it, and despite his failures, his life ended victoriously because he never let his faith diminish in the one who loved him.

            Jesus says that if your love is like his, it will be a demonstration that we are his disciples. Do you see people quarreling over pettiness, jealousy and division in your church? Or do you know that they are followers of Jesus by seeing the love that they have for each other?

            Love for others was not a new commandment, but love for others in the same way that Christ loved others was revolutionary. Now we must love others basing ourselves on the same sacrificial love of Jesus for us. Such love will not only bring non-believers to Christ, but will also keep his followers strong and united in a world hostile to God. Jesus was a living example of God’s love, in the same manner we must be examples of such love.

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, allow us to be able to love you and our neighbor with an unconditional love. Amen.

EL AMOR DE DIOS

Juan 13:31-35

Les doy este mandamiento nuevo: Que se amen los unos a los otros. Así como yo  los amo a ustedes, así deben amarse ustedes los unos a los otros.

Juan 13:34

            Juan describe estos pocos momentos de manera clara y detallada. Jesús sabía con exactitud lo que acontecería. Sabía lo que pasaría con Judas y con Pedro, pero no cambió la situación, ni dejó de amarlos. Asimismo, Jesús sabe muy bien lo que hará usted en su momento. Pero aun así lo ama incondicionalmente y le perdonará cuando usted se lo pida. Judas no entendió esto y su vida acabó de manera trágica. Pedro lo comprendió, y a pesar de sus faltas, su vida acabó de manera victoriosa porque nunca disminuyó su fe en aquel que lo amaba.

            Jesús dice que si nuestro amor es semejante al suyo será una demostración de que somos sus discípulos. ¿Ve la gente disputar por pequeñeces, celos y división en su iglesia? ¿O sabe que son seguidores de Jesús al ver el amor que se tienen?

            Amar a otros no era un mandamiento nuevo, pero amar a otros de la misma manera que Cristo amó a otros era revolucionario. Ahora debemos amar a otros basándonos en el amor sacrificial de Jesús por nosotros. Tal amor no solo llevará a los no creyentes a Cristo, sino que también mantendrá a sus seguidores fuertes y unidos en un mundo hostil a Dios. Jesús fue un ejemplo viviente del amor de Dios, del mismo modo que debemos nosotros ser ejemplos de tal amor .

Oración: Padre amado, permite que te podamos amar a ti y al prójimo con un amor incondicional. Amén.
