YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER

Acts 1:8

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

            The Synod Assembly met in January, the most important and inclusive meeting of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Cuba. But it is never too late to dedicate a day to meditate on the Church.

            Sometimes we get disillusioned by many things that form a part of our human context in the Church, or that we don’t understand, or can pay attention within us to the suffering of persecution. Some consider her (the church) as a museum where life is gradually disappearing. Others surely see her as a flow of moral potency, disputing her then for speaking out in favor of a cause, a crusade or a particular political party. If she responds to one, others will begin to denigrate or accuse.

            When the Church is conscious of her mission, surely, all people of this world, perhaps even the best of them, will feel scandalized by her at one time or another. But let us not forget what is essential; the Church is of God. The Church has as her only mission to present Jesus Christ to humanity: to announce it, to demonstrate it and to give it to all.

 

Prayer: Lord, I give you thanks for your Church, her leaders and her faithful people. Bless her in her ministries and witness. Amen.

RECIBIRÁN PODER

Hechos 1:8

Yo estaré con ustedes todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo.

            El pasado mes de enero se celebró la Asamblea del Sínodo, la reunión más importante e inclusiva de la Iglesia Presbiteriana-Reformada en Cuba. Pero nunca es tarde para dedicar un día a meditar sobre la Iglesia.

            Puede suceder que nos desilusionen muchas cosas que forman parte de la contextura humana de la Iglesia, o que seamos incomprendidos en ella, o puede darse el caso de padecer persecución en su seno. Algunos la consideran como un museo donde la vida va desapareciendo paulatinamente. Otros seguramente la ven como un caudal de potencia moral, disputándola entonces para que se pronuncie en favor de una causa, una cruzada, o un partido. Si responde a unos, los otros se retirarán para denigrarla o acusarla.

            Cuando la Iglesia es consciente de su misión, con razón, todos las personas de este mundo, y quizás las mejores, se sentirán un día u otro escandalizadas por ella. Pero no olvidemos lo que es esencial: la Iglesia es de Dios. La Iglesia tiene la única misión de hacer presente a Jesucristo a la humanidad, anunciarlo, mostrarlo y darlo a todos.

 

Oración. Señor, te doy gracias por tu Iglesia, sus líderes y su fieles todos. Bendícela en sus ministerios y testimonio. Amén.
