FROM THE TRUTH

Exodus 32:7-14

The Lord said to Moses, “Go down at once! Your people . . . have acted perversely1

              How many things happen these days that overshadow the lives of so many people! I think about the things that limit the development and the hopes of more and more people, erasing their dreams and those that they have for their children. On the other hand, I see power and abundance, hoarding, logical impoverishment and its moral and spiritual consequences. Through all of this, values other than those which should regulate it as a creation of God have been ingrained in our society. What we see every day terrifies and shocks us: a world going around, that has become strange, with new proposals for living that have nothing to do with the highest commandment of love taught by Jesus Christ. In the midst of disorientation and as Christians, we must avoid falling into the trap of working and responding like victims of the victims. In the church we have not achieved the fullness of the love with which the Savior loved us, being a body united in testimony and mission, living and making known the will of God.

              As children of God, we must be present in the situations which restrict and compromise the life and the dignity of people, sharing from our faith the divine vision of a free and good world derived from its truth.

 

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for the times when we depart from your commandments and forget what is our responsibility in this anguished world. Amen.

DESDE LA VERDAD

Exodo 32:7-14

El Señor dijo a Moisés: Anda, baja, porque tu pueblo… se ha echado a perder

Éxodo 32:7

              ¡Cuántas cosas suceden hoy que ensombrecen la vida de tantas personas! Pienso en las cosas que limitan el desarrollo y las esperanzas de cada vez más personas, borrando sus sueños y los que proyectan en sus hijos. Como contraparte, veo el poder y la abundancia, el acaparamiento, el lógico empobrecimiento y sus consecuencias morales y espirituales. Por todo esto, en el seno de nuestra sociedad, se instalan valores diferentes de los que deberían regularla como creación de Dios. Lo que a diario vemos nos aterra y escandaliza: un mundo dando vueltas, que se tornó extraño, con nuevas propuestas de vida que nada tienen que ver con el máximo mandamiento del amor enseñado por Jesucristo. En medio de la desorientación y como cristianos, debemos evitar caer en la trampa de obrar y responder como víctimas de las víctimas. En la iglesia tampoco hemos logrado la plenitud del amor con que nos amó el Salvador, ser un cuerpo unido en el testimonio y la misión, viviendo y dando a conocer la voluntad de Dios.

              Como hijos de Dios, debemos estar presentes en las situaciones que restringen y comprometen la vida y la dignidad de las personas, compartir desde nuestra fe la mirada divina por un mundo libre y bueno desde su verdad.

 

Oración: Perdónanos Señor, por las veces que nos apartamos de tus mandamientos y nos olvidamos de cuál es nuestra responsabilidad en este mundo angustiado. Amén.
