THANKS TO HIM WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH

1 Timothy  1:12-16

But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ  might display the utmost patience…

            The name of Holy Empire was given to the one established by Otto I, the Great, in 962 AD, which included Italy, Burgundy and Germania. In 1075 a strong controversy broke out between the Empire and the papacy of Gregory VII. The dispute was centered on the power and supremacy of one over the other.

            Paul wrote to his disciple Timothy and alerted him to a danger that could affect his witness and the life of the community: power, which is advanced by protagonism.

            We run after the top positions, the most relevant places on the scene, but we seldom remember that we were baptized not for power, but for service. Jesus after His baptism did not sit on a throne.  He went to the roads to look for people and to serve them even to the point of giving His own life. Think about your function as a baptized person, are you to be served or to serve?

            But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

 

Prayer: Forgive me Lord, for the many times I have let myself be carried away by my personal pride and have not served you as you deserve. Amen.

GRACIAS A AQUEL QUE ME DA FUERZAS

1 Timoteo 1:12-16

...pero Dios tuvo misericordia de mí, para que Jesucristo mostrara en mí toda su paciencia

1 Timoteo 1: 16

            Se le dio el nombre de Sacro Imperio al establecido por Otón I, El Grande, en el 962 dC y que comprendía Italia, Borgoña y Germania. En el  1075 se desata una fuerte polémica entre el Imperio y el papado de Gregorio VII. La disputa tenía como centro el poder y la supremacía del uno sobre el otro.

            Pablo escribe a su discípulo Timoteo y lo alerta acerca de un peligro que podía afectar su testimonio y la vida de la comunidad: el poder, que tiene su avanzada en el protagonismo.

            Corremos detrás de los primeros puestos, de los lugares más relevantes en la escena, pero pocas veces recordamos que hemos sido bautizados no para el poder, sino para el servicio. Jesús después de su bautismo no se sentó en un trono, fue a los caminos a buscar a la gente y a servirles hasta dar Su propia vida. Piensa en tu función como persona bautizada ¿estás para que te sirvan o para servir?

            Mas Dios muestra su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.  (Romanos 5:8)

 

Oración: Perdóname Señor, por las tantas veces que me he dejado llevar por mi orgullo personal, y no te he servido como tú te mereces. Amén.
