BY GRACE YOU ARE SAVED

Hosea 10: 1-13b

…for it is time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain.

Hosea 10:12 (CEB)

            We Christians believe in the forgiveness of sins, in the renewed life, in the new creature, in the redemption of the human race.

            After confession of sin and repentance, there follows forgiven life, newness of life in the will of God. Sowing of justice, fighting  for justice, loving and serving justice; this is how we seek the Lord, for his presence is justice.

            If, on the contrary, we reap injustice, it is because we have sown evil and eaten its fruit, which is the lie. Paul attacked the lie, as did the prophets. The lie is not the product of error, but it is the product of injustice. Every lie is an injustice, and the greatest lie for the Church is precisely the one pointed out in the first verse of this chapter, and it is the one that makes us believe that by multiplying altars, that is, temples, building them and beautifying them, the challenge to the Lord's demands is met.

            That is why repentance must come first, renouncing the lie and seeking the truth in the struggle for justice.

 

 Prayer: Forgiving God, on this day we want to thank you because you always forgive us and invite us to live a life free of sins and full of your love. Amen.

POR GRACIA SOIS SALVOS

Oseas 10: 1-13B

…porque es tiempo de buscar al Señor, hasta que él venga y traiga lluvia de salvación sobre ustedes. …

Oseas 10:12

            Nosotros los cristianos creemos en el perdón de los pecados, en la vida renovada, en la nueva criatura, en la redención del género humano.

            Tras la confesión del pecado y el arrepentimiento, sigue la vida perdonada, la novedad de vida en la voluntad de Dios. Sembrando en justicia, luchando por la justicia, amando y sirviendo a la justicia; así  es como buscamos al Señor, porque su presencia es justicia.

            Si por el contrario cosechamos la injusticia es porque hemos sembrado el mal y nos comemos su fruto que es la mentira. Pablo atacó la mentira, como los profetas también lo hicieron. La mentira no es el producto del error, sino que es el producto de la injusticia. Toda mentira es una injusticia, y la mentira mayor para la Iglesia es precisamente la que señala el verso primero de este capítulo, y es aquella que nos hace creer que multiplicando los altares, es decir, los templos, construyéndolos y embelleciéndolos, se cumplimenta el reto a las exigencias del Señor.

            Por eso ha de venir el arrepentimiento primero, renunciando a la mentira y buscando la verdad en la lucha por la justicia.

 

Oración: Dios perdonador, en este día queremos agradecerte porque tú siempre nos perdonas y nos invitas a vivir una vida libre de pecados y llena de tu amor. Amén.
