NO INTEREST

Philippians 2:1-4

Not looking at your own interest but each of you to  the interest of others.

Philippians 2:4 (NIV)

            The life of human beings in society is a life of relationships. One cannot live in complete isolation. We need each other. However, we can be in relationships  for a variety of reasons. We are rational creatures and it is always wise to think about the things we do

            It is also true that we all, perhaps without realizing it, live and relate to each other from an angle of selfishness or altruism. Selfishness is when we think only of ourselves. My own usefulness and profit is the motive of my actions. Altruism is when we also think of others. For our community life, the biblical teaching is to look not only to ourselves, but also to think of others

            Christianity produces in us the most beautiful and noble feelings. And as disciples of Jesus Christ we have his stimulating example. Christ gave himself entirely to do the will of his Father and out of love for us. If we think of others, we ourselves will do better.

 

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that the love  poured out for us by your Holy Spirit may move us to love others. Amen.

SIN INTERES

Filipenses 2:1-4

No mirando cada uno por lo suyo propio, sino cada cual también por lo de los otros

Filipenses 2:4

            La vida de los seres humanos en sociedad es vida de relaciones. Uno no puede vivir en completo aislamiento. Nos necesitamos unos a otros. Sin embargo, podemos hacer esto por una diversidad de motivos. Somos criaturas racionales y siempre es conveniente pensar las cosas que hacemos.

            También es cierto que todos, quizás sin darnos cuenta, vivimos y nos relacionamos desde un ángulo de egoísmo o de altruismo. Egoísmo es cuando pensamos sólo en nosotros mismos. Mi propia utilidad y provecho es el móvil de mis acciones. Altruismo es cuando también pensamos en los demás. Para nuestra vida comunitaria, la enseñanza bíblica es que miremos no solamente a lo nuestro, sino que también pensemos en los demás.

            El cristianismo produce en nosotros los sentimientos más bellos y nobles. Y como discípulos de Jesucristo tenemos el estimulante ejemplo suyo. Cristo se dio por entero para hacer la voluntad de su Padre y por amor a nosotros. Si pensamos en los otros, nos irá mejor a nosotros mismos.

 

Oración: Padre Celestial, te pido que ese amor que ha sido derramado por nosotros por tu Santo Espíritu, nos mueva a amar a los demás. Amén.
