LOOKING WITH PERSPECTIVE

Luke 12:15

Then Jesus said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourself against all kinds of greed.”

Luke 12: 15a  (CEB)

            On more than one occasion, I confess with sincerity and ask forgiveness from the Lord because I have felt that the daily monotony and routine have crushed me.  I have looked around me with a broad perspective, both outside of and within my country, and I have seen on one side the poverty, hunger, unemployment, and the struggle to find bread, clothing and shelter. Viewing from another side I see abundance, unchecked consumerism, and waste.  For many that have it all there is a deep confusion respecting the finality of all things. 

            In the midst of abundance, the amazing words of Jesus remind us that “life is more than food.  The life of man does not consist in the abundance of the goods that he possesses.”

            What the most unfortunate in the world need is not freedom from monotony or even more freedom, but happiness and a sense of purpose with their lives, facing each day that comes.

            Decide what will be abundant in you today: material things or life with meaning.  Jesus Christ will help you in the decision.  

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, we ask you to help us to understand what is our true purpose in life.  Amen.

MIRANDO CON PERSPECTIVA

Lucas 12:15

Cuídense ustedes de la avaricia

Lucas 12: 15a

            En más de una ocasión confieso con sinceridad y pido perdón al Señor porque he sentido que la monotonía diaria y la rutina me han aplastado. He mirado a mi alrededor en una perspectiva amplia, fuera y dentro de mi patria, y he visto por un lado la pobreza, el hambre, el desempleo, la lucha por obtener pan, abrigo y techo. En otra óptica miro abundancia, el consumismo desenfrenado, el derroche. Para muchos que lo tienen todo hay una honda confusión respecto a la finalidad de todas las cosas.

            En medio de la abundancia, las tremendas palabras de Jesús nos recuerdan que “la vida es más que el alimento. La vida del hombre no consiste en la abundancia de los bienes que posee”.

            Lo que necesitan los más afortunados de la tierra no es liberación de la monotonía o mayor libertad, sino alegría y sentido de propósito con sus vidas al encarar cada día que se asoma.

            Decide que abundará en ti hoy: las cosas materiales o la vida con sentido. Jesucristo the ayuda en la decisión.

 

Oración: Padre amado, te pedimos que nos ayudes a entender cuál es nuestro verdadero propósito en la vida.  Amén.
