LIVE WITH GOOD RELATIONS

Matthew 5:20-26

First, go and be reconciled with them; then come and offer your gift.  (NIV)

At the moment of the offertory, before depositing our offering to God, we must be sure that we are well with our sisters and brothers. Therefore, if we know that we have a quarrel, let us come quickly to talk, then come to an understanding to offer to God.

This is one of the first readings we do of this text, but it is deeper. It is not about changing the order at the moment of the offertory, but about the health of our human relationships; meaning caring for our relationships with family, in the church, at work, with our neighbors is as important as our personal relationship with God. We deceive ourselves if we pretend that we have a good relationship with God, when we do not have gestures of closeness and understanding with those with whom we have had some misunderstanding or conflict, or when we do not do everything that is on our part. Our relationship with those around us is as important as the relationship  with God.

 

Prayer: God of love and life, may we today show in our relationships with others the same love for our neighbor that Jesus taught us. Amen.

VIVIR CON BUENAS RELACIONES.

Mateo 5:20-26

Ve primero y reconcíliate con tu hermano; luego vuelve y presenta tu ofrenda.

En el momento del ofertorio, antes de depositar nuestra ofrenda a Dios, debemos estar seguros de estar bien con nuestras hermanas y hermanos. Por lo tanto, si sabemos que tenemos una rencilla, acerquémonos pronto a conversar, entendernos luego a ofrendar a Dios.

Esta es una de las primeras lecturas que hacemos de este texto, pero es más profunda. No se trata de cambiar el orden en el momento del ofertorio, sino de la salud de nuestras relaciones humanas. El cuidado de nuestra relación con familiares, en la Iglesia, trabajo, con nuestro prójimo es tan importante como nuestra relación personal con Dios. Nos engañamos si pretendemos que tenemos una buena relación con Dios, cuando no tenemos gestos de cercanía, comprensión, con quienes hemos tenido algún mal entendido o conflicto, cuando no hacemos todo lo que esté de nuestra parte: en cuanto dependa de nosotros. Nuestra relación con Dios es tan importante como las relaciones que tenemos con quienes nos rodean.

 

Oración: Dios de amor y vida, que podamos hoy mostrar en nuestras relaciones con los demás la misma el amor al prójimo que nos enseñó Jesús. Amén.
