YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS

Matthew 7: 15-20

Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Today many people use the Church as a facade and try to manipulate others with strange doctrines for their own personal gain. That is why in the text we are asked to beware of these people. But even more dangerous is to become one of them.

In verse 12 it says, “by their fruits.” With this beautiful metaphor we are shown how to identify these behaviors. That is why we are so committed. Our fruits will tell others who we really are. But we must keep in mind that at all times and in all places, we represent Jesus and our faith community. So, we have the responsibility to take care of the image that people have of Jesus and the Church. Because a bad action towards another person can alienate him or her from the Church, we can be stumbling blocks for those who are just beginning on the path of faith. Let us bear good fruits, so that others can see God through our actions.

 

Prayer: Dear God, grant that we may be trees that bear good fruits. Amen.

POR SUS FRUTOS LOS CONOCERÁN

Mateo 7: 15-20

Así que, por sus frutos los conoceréis

Mateo 7:20

Hoy muchas personas utilizan la Iglesia como fachada y tratan de manipular a otras con doctrinas extrañas para lograr su propio beneficio personal. Por eso en el texto se nos pide que tengamos cuidado con estas personas. Pero más peligroso aún es convertirnos en una de ellas.

En el verso 12 se nos dice que por los frutos. Con esta hermosa metáfora se nos enseña cómo identificar estas conductas. Por eso adquirimos un gran compromiso. Nuestros frutos dirán quiénes somos realmente. Pero debemos tener presente que representamos a Jesús y a nuestra comunidad de fe en todo momento y en todo lugar. Así que tenemos la responsabilidad de cuidar la imagen que tienen las personas sobre Jesús y la Iglesia. Porque una mala acción hacia otra persona pueden alejarla definitivamente de la Iglesia y podemos ser piedras de tropiezo para aquellas personas que se inician en los caminos de la fe. Demos buenos frutos, para que otras personas puedan ver a Dios a través de nuestras acciones.

 

Oración: Buen Dios, permite que podamos ser árboles que den buenos frutos. Amén.
