THE FATHER’S BEST BUSINESS

Luke 2: 41-51

He said to them, “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

Luke 2:49 (NRSV)

Scholars say that an excellent question is worth more than a good reply. And at the center of a situation like this, of “suggestive” questions, the young Jesus places his parents. After searching for him for three days, they find Jesus in the temple sharing with the doctors of the law. Mary and Joseph did not understood.

For Jesus it was very necessary to make it understood that with God life is different and that a different way of being human, of being a community and of being a society can be possible.

In many circumstances, the current times that pass,–as with Mary and Joseph–do not allow us to understand the ways of revelation of the God of Life. But they do allow for reflection. Let us be co-participants and responsible in the edification of the Kingdom of God, the best business.

 

Prayer: Lord, thank you for placing in our hands the chance to work for the Truth of your Reign of joy, peace, and justice. May we act with wisdom and responsibility; we believe it is the only way to achieve the fruits you expect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

EL MEJOR NEGOCIO DEL PADRE

Lucas 2: 41-51

Entonces él les dijo: ¿Por qué me buscabais? ¿No sabías que en los negocios de mi Padre me es necesario estar?

Lucas 2:49

Dicen los eruditos que vale más una excelente pregunta que una buena respuesta. Y en el centro de un supuesto como este –de preguntas "sugerentes"-  sitúa el joven Jesús a sus padres. Después de buscarlo durante tres días, encuentran a Jesús en el templo compartiendo con los doctores de la ley. María y José nada entendían.  

Para Jesús era muy necesario hacer entender que con Dios la vida es diferente y que puede ser posible una manera distinta de ser humano, de ser comunidad y de ser sociedad.

En muchas circunstancias, los tiempos actuales que transcurren, -como a María y a José- no permiten que entendamos las maneras de revelación del Dios de la Vida. Pero sí permiten que reflexionemos. Seamos co-partícipes y responsables en la edificación del Reino de Dios, el mejor negocio.

 

Oración: Señor, gracias por poner en nuestras manos la oportunidad de trabajar por la Verdad de tu Reino de gozo, paz y justicia. Que actuemos con sabiduría y responsabilidad; creemos es la única manera que los frutos que esperas. En el nombre de Jesús, Amén.
