SALT AND LIGHT

Matthew 5:13-16

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. (NIV)

Matthew 5: 14

Salt continues to be an item of great value: it purifies, preserves, heals, gives flavor and awakens thirst.

From the light of a candle, the flashlight of a cell phone to any lamp today, the higher we place it, the more it covers, the better we see to orient ourselves in the dark.

In these times, we would not think of leaving a lamp on under the table or at angles where its light is not projected in our field of vision.

The necessary salt is not wasted either. This is how Jesus compares what testimony and correct action should be like in the lives of the disciples, from whom we make his life proposal our own. This is how our journey should be, sharing light, goodness and love, so that those who need it find guidance, a sense of justice, a thirst to be a community, to accompany us together.

 

Prayer: Our God, always be our light on the path, and may our actions of common good be lamps and commitment for a transformation into better human beings in the construction of your Kingdom. Amen.

SAL Y LUZ

Mateo 5:13-16

Ustedes son la luz del mundo. Una ciudad en lo alto de una colina no puede esconderse.

Mateo 5: 14

La sal sigue siendo un artículo de mucho valor: purifica, preserva, cura, da sabor y despierta sed. Desde la luz de una vela, la linterna de un celular a cualquier lámpara hoy en día, mientras a más altura la situamos más abarca, mejor vemos para orientarnos en la oscuridad.

En estos tiempos, tampoco se nos ocurriría dejar una lámpara encendida debajo de la mesa o en ángulos donde su luz no se proyecte a favor de nuestro campo de visión; cómo tampoco se desperdicia la necesaria sal. Así compara Jesús como debe ser el testimonio y el correcto actuar en la vida de los discípulos, de quienes hacemos nuestra su propuesta de vida. Así debe ser nuestro caminar, compartiendo la luz, el bien, el amor, para quien lo necesite encuentre orientación, sentido de justicia, sed de ser comunidad, de acompañarnos juntas y juntos.

 

Oración: Dios nuestro, se siempre nuestra luz en el camino, y que nuestras acciones de bien común sean lámparas y de compromiso para una transformación en mejores seres humanos en la construcción de tu Reino. Amén.
