GOD CALLS US, TEACHES US, AND CARES FOR US

Hosea 11, 1. 3-4; 8-9

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.  The more I called them, the more they went from me; they kept sacrificing to the Baals, and offering incense to idols. Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them up in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them.

Hosea 11:1-3 (NRSV)

Despite our inexperiences, rantings and discouragements, God wants us to be grateful for the certainty of his perennial companionship. We can turn our faces to the Lord with a whim and, although pride and infidelity corrode us, God is pleased with his people. There is no room for doubt: God loves us! God wants us to hear his voice in the midst of all the the other noises and disturbances. God wants to continue holding our arms…and walk!

Today God wants to reaffirm his covenant with his people. Let’s recall our alliances of gratitude and joy. Let’s not forget that God continues to call, to teach, and to care.

 

Prayer: Gentle God, forgive the faithlessness of your obstinate people. Take our arms again and let us walk at your pace. May we wisely understand your call, learn your teachings, and be thankful for your care. Through Jesus Christ, Amen.

ÉL NOS LLAMA, NOS ENSEÑA Y NOS CUIDA

Oseas 11, 1. 3-4; 8-9

Cuando Israel era muchacho, yo lo amé, y de Egipto llamé a mi hijo. Cuanto más yo los llamaba, tanto más se alejaban de mí; (…) Yo con todo eso enseñaba a andar al mismo Efraín, tomándoles de los brazos; y no conoció que yo le cuidaba.

Oseas 11:1-3

A pesar de nuestras inexperiencias, desvaríos y desánimos, Él desea que seamos felices con la certeza de su compañía perenne. Podremos virar con capricho, nuestros rostros al Señor y, aunque el orgullo y la infidelidad nos corroa, Dios tiene complacencia de su pueblo. No hay lugar para las dudas: ¡Dios nos ama! ¡Dios desea que escuchemos su voz en medio de tanto ruido y disturbio! ¡Quiere permanecer tomando nuestros brazos…y andar!

Hoy Dios desea reafirmar el pacto con su pueblo. ¡Coloquemos nuestras alianzas de la gratitud y el gozo! No olvidemos que Dios nos sigue llamando, enseñando y cuidando.

 

Oración: Dios Tierno, perdona la infidelidad de tu pueblo obstinado. Toma nuestros brazos nuevamente y permite que caminemos a tu ritmo. Que con sabiduría podamos entender tu llamado, aprender tus enseñanzas y agradecer tus cuidados. Por Jesucristo, Amén.
