WHO NEEDS GOD?

Matthew 9: 9-13

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. . . .”

Matthew 9:12 NIV

From the time of Jesus, the testimony of the people who gathered in the temples was very important. To attend there, there were requirements that made people pure. They had to fulfill certain purification rituals.

Jesus breaks with these schemes and shows a different vision of those who truly need God’s love: the most vulnerable. Even so, many people are rejected because of their skin color, their economic status, their social background, their sexual preference. There are churches where people with certain “vices” are denied entry, because only pure people can attend. There are many people who believe they are superior because they develop some ministry or responsibility. May God grant that from our spaces we can transform mentalities and contribute to include all people in need of God.

 

Prayer: God of life, allow us to transform ourselves to be humble people. Allow us to learn and accept that we all need you. Amen.

¿QUIÉNES NECESITAN DE DIOS?

MATEO 9: 9-13

Al oír esto Jesús, les dijo Los que están buenos y sanos no necesitan médicos, sino los enfermos.

Desde los tiempos de Jesús, el testimonio de las personas que se reunían en los templos, era muy importante Para asistir allí se necesitaban requisitos que hacían puras a las personas. De coserlo debían cumplir determinados rituales de purificación.

Jesús rompe con estos esquemas y muestra una visión diferente de quiénes verdaderamente necesitan del amor de Dios: los más vulnerables. Aún así muchas personas son rechazadas por su color de piel, su estatus económico, su procedencia social, su preferencia sexual. Existen iglesias donde se niega la entrada de personas con determinados “vicios”, porque solamente pueden asistir personas puras. No son pocas las personas que creen superiores por desarrollar algún ministerio o responsabilidad. Quiera Dios que desde nuestros espacios podamos transformar mentalidades y contribuir para incluir a todas las personas Todas necesitamos de Dios.

 

Oración: Dios de la vida, permite que podamos transformarnos para ser personas humildes. Permítenos aprender y aceptar que todas y todos necesitamos de ti. Amén.
