FOLLOWING THE MASTER

Luke 5: 1-11

“Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.”

Luke 5:10b (NRSV)

How beautiful it is to wake up and start the morning with a joyful spirit! That smile that makes you complicit in telling jokes, turning on the TV, listening to music and thinking about how you are going to program yourself for the day. However, that wasn’t the way Simon experienced it when he returned to his work. Maybe he just wanted to go home and get some rest after a hard night spoiled by poor fishing.

What is certain is that Jesus appeared and told them to again take their boat out to the deep part of the lake and let down their nets for a catch. The last thing that Simon could imagine was that he would experience a miracle in a great catch of fish. Today, we can show other people the great blessings that God provides every day. Let us trust that others will also find reasons to receive the blessing of having Him as their Lord and Savior.

 

Prayer: My Lord and God, help me to understand that each day provides a miracle for multiplying the blessings you give in order that others may recognize you in them. Amen.

SEGUIR AL MAESTRO

LUCAS 5: 1-11

… no tengas miedo, de hoy en adelante, en lugar de pescar peces, voy a enseñarte a ganar seguidores para mí.

Lucas 5:10b

¡Qué hermoso es despertar y comenzar la mañana con un espíritu alegre! Esa sonrisa que te hace ser cómplice de contar chistes, encender la TV, escuchar música y pensando en cómo te vas a programar para este día. Sin embargo, no fue así la experiencia de Simón al regreso de su trabajo. Tal vez quería llegar a su casa para descansar después de una noche ocupada y estropeada por su mala pesca.

Lo cierto es que Jesús aparece y le manda que nuevamente lleve su barca a la parte más honda del lago y lance las redes para pescar. Lo menos que se imaginó Simón fue que tendría una experiencia milagrosa al pescar en gran cantidad. Hoy podemos mostrarles a otras personas las grandes bendiciones que Dios hace en nuestros días. Confiemos en que otras personas también encuentren motivos para recibir la bendición de tenerlo a Él como su Señor y Salvador.

 

Oración: Señor y Dios mío, ayúdame a entender que cada día es un milagro para multiplicar las bendiciones que tú me das y así otras personas puedan reconocerte en ellas. Amén.
