How Do We Live with Enough?

Proverbs 30:5-9

How would we respond faced with the question about what we need in order to live? Generally, our responses would be conditional, based on the moment of life that we’re in at the time. However, while agreeing on the need to be healthy, I invite you to think, too, about the need to have enough to be happy, which includes the well-being of our entire existence.

We need to think of what is enough to have happiness, and to have a dignified life, which has nothing to do with accumulating material things, or feeling superior to others because we have possibilities that others do not.

Having enough, should be closer to living in freedom, walking on the paths of truth, respecting the integrity of every human being and all of creation, having clear the essences for which we position ourselves, having the material goods that give us dignity and fulfillment, but above all, feeling the pleasure of having a life closer to what God proposes for us.

 

Prayer: God, give me enough in order to live fully, according to your proposal of life.

¿Cómo vivir con lo suficiente?

Proverbios 30:5-9

¿Qué responderíamos frente a la pregunta sobre lo que necesitamos para vivir? Generalmente nuestras respuestas están condicionadas, por el momento de la vida en que estemos, pero en lo que la mayoría coincide en la necesidad, en principio, de tener salud. Sin embargo, aún coincidiendo en la necesidad de estar saludables, les invito a pensar también en la necesidad de tener lo suficiente, para ser felices, que incluye el bienestar de toda nuestra existencia.

Necesitamos pensar en lo suficiente para tener felicidad, tener una vida digna, que no tiene que ver con acumular cosas materiales, o sentirnos superiores a otras y otros porque tenemos posibilidades que otras personas no tienen.

Tener lo suficiente, debe estar más cerca, de vivir en libertad, caminar por sendas de verdad, respetar la integridad de cada ser humano y de toda la creación, tener claras las esencias por las cuales apostamos, tener los bienes materiales que nos den dignidad y plenitud, pero sobre todo sentir el placer de tener una vida más cerca a lo que Dios nos propone.

 

Oración: Dios, dame lo suficiente para vivir con plenitud, según tu propuesta de vida.
