DO NOT EXTINGUISH OUR LIGHT

Matthew 5:16

I have always thought of the importance of lighthouses. Those large beacons almost always near the shore, help locate those who are at sea. I can imagine the joy of those who are in the midst of darkness, desperate, overwhelmed, sometimes hungry and sick, needing a guide to get them to dry land, to safe harbor, to the warm embrace of family and friends. This light indicates the proximity of well-being, and at that moment they recover hope, regain strength and prepare their spirit for life to go on.

In the midst of so many blackouts, not only due to the lack of electricity, but also due to the lack of hope, dreams, and meaning in life, it is urgent to discover lighthouses and, even more so, to be ourselves, lighthouses for those who feel lost as if they were at sea. In the midst of immense waves and strong winds, we can see the persistence of the lighthouse in not going out, in continuing to guide; that is precisely the light that we need to be. May no bad weather extinguish us, but rather make us shine more and more, so that we can help rediscover meaning, paths, and even rediscover hope within ourselves.

 

Prayer: God, allow us to always keep our light on, to illuminate those who need it.

Que no apaguen nuestra luz

Mateo 5:16

Siempre he pensado en la importancia de los faros, esos grandes faroles casi siempre cerca de la costa que ayudan a ubicar a quienes están en alta mar. Puedo imaginar la alegría de quienes están en medio de la oscuridad, desesperados, agobiados, a veces hambrientos y enfermos, necesitando una guía que los haga llegar a tierra firme, a puerto seguro, al abrazo cálido de la familia, de los amigos. Esta luz les indica la proximidad del bienestar, y en ese momento recuperan la esperanza, recobran fuerzas y preparan su espíritu para que la vida siga.

En medio de tantos apagones, no solo por la falta de electricidad, sino también, por la falta de esperanzas, de sueños, de sentidos de vida, es urgente descubrir faros y más aún, ser nosotras y nosotros mismos, faros para quienes se sienten perdidos como si estuvieran en alta mar. En medio de inmensas olas, fuertes vientos, podemos ver la persistencia del faro por no apagarse, por continuar guiando; justo esa luz es la que necesitamos ser. Que ningún mal tiempo, nos apague, sino que nos haga resplandecer cada vez más, que podemos ayudar a reencontrar los sentidos, caminos, incluso redescubrir la esperanza dentro de nosotros mismos. 

 

Oración: Dios, permite que siempre podamos mantener nuestra luz encendida, para iluminar a quienes lo necesiten.
