GIVING THANKS TO GOD AT ALL TIMES

PSALM 103

But from everlasting to everlasting

the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,

and his righteousness with their children’s children.  (NIV)

Psalm 103:17

The life of the believer should be a hymn of gratitude to the Lord; so many are the things he lavishes upon us, and we have so few merits that only a deep spirit of repentance can appreciate it at all.

That is the moving message of the psalm. God doesn’t act toward us according to our iniquities, rather love is the backdrop of his entire work. We need to descend the pedestal on which we’ve put ourselves, destroy the petulance that makes us arrogant, to place ourselves in a sincere attitude of humble appreciation.

We live and proceed as though we deserved everything. But what simpletons we are! Let us rest the head on the pillow or begin the tasks of the day with the wise reflection that God provides and cares for his sons and daughters. We have the light, well beyond the shadows, the plants, the rivers, the countryside, the copious rain, the starry sky, the children, the friend…Who can ignore the infinite mercy of God? Thank you, Lord.

Prayer:  Thanks, Jesus, I give you every moment of my life, for being my friend and guide. Amen.

DÁNDOLE GRACIAS A DIOS EN TODO MOMENTO

SALMO 103

Pero el amor del Señor es eterno para aquellos que le honran;

su justicia es infinita para todas las generaciones.

Salmo 103:17

La vida del creyente debería ser un cántico de gratitud al Señor. Son tantas las cosas que Él nos prodiga y tenemos tan poco méritos que solo un espíritu profundo de arrepentimiento puede apreciarlo al menos.

Ese es el mensaje conmovedor del salmo leído. Dios no actúa hacia nosotros conforme a nuestras iniquidades, sino que es el amor el trasfondo de toda su obra.

Necesitamos bajar del pedestal en que nos hemos colocado, destruir la petulancia que nos hace ser arrogantes, para situarnos en actitud sincera de humilde reconocimiento.

Vivimos y procedemos como si todo nos lo mereciéramos. Pero ¡qué tontos somos! Reposemos la cabeza en la almohada o empecemos las tareas del día con la sabia reflexión de que Dios provee y cuida de sus hijos y sus hijas. Tenemos la luz, más allá de las sombras, las plantas, los ríos, el paisaje, la lluvia copiosa, el cielo estrellado, los hijos, el amigo… ¡Quién puede desconocer la misericordia infinita de Dios! ¡Gracias Señor!

Oración: Gracias Jesús, te doy en todo momento de mi vida, por ser tú mi amigo y mi guía. Amén.
