LIVING ALSO FOR THE OTHER

MARK 12:28-34

…and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being,

with all your mind, and with all your strength.

Mark 12:30 CEB

It is true that each one is responsible for his or her own life, but we should not be so preoccupied with our own problems and difficulties that we fail to care about the problems and needs of others.  To live for oneself is to perish. Jesus said that the first and greatest commandment was to love God with all the heart and mind, and the second was to love the neighbor as oneself.

For Christ, the cross signifies the means of sacrifice for others.  For us Christians, the cross of Christ represents the challenge to live in constant love for others.

When we are capable of thinking about others and giving ourselves for others, we are truly sons and daughters of God. Happiness is not a personal belonging, and even when rationed, it is to be consumed collectively.

Prayer:  Bless us, beloved God, and give us the grace to care for all your creation as you have taught us.  Forgive us when we behave selfishly, and we think only of our own happiness.  Help us to live for others, in the way that your Son Jesus did during his ministry.  Amen.

VIVIENDO TAMBIÉN POR LOS DEMÁS

MARCOS 12:28-34

Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma,

con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas

Marcos 12:30

Es verdad que cada uno es responsable de su propia vida, pero no debemos absorbernos tanto en nuestros propios problemas y dificultades que descuidemos los problemas y los asuntos de los demás.

Vivir para sí mismo es perecer. Jesús dijo que el primero y gran mandamiento era amar a Dios con todo el corazón y toda la mente, y el segundo amar al prójimo como a sí mismo. 

La cruz significó para Cristo el medio de sacrificarse por los demás. Para nosotros los cristianos, la cruz de Cristo significa el reto para que vivamos en constante amor para los demás.

En la medida en que seamos capaces de pensar en otros y darnos por otros, es que seremos verdaderamente hijos e hijas de Dios. La felicidad no es un artículo personal, aunque está racionada, es de consumo colectivo.

Oración: Bendícenos Dios amado, y danos la gracia de cuidar de toda tu creación como tú nos enseñaste. Perdónanos cuando nos compartamos egoístamente, y pensamos solo en nuestra felicidad. Ayúdanos a vivir por los demás, así como lo hizo tu Hijo Jesús durante su ministerio. Amén.
