WHAT SUSTAINS LIFE

PSALM 75

When the earth and all its people quake,

it is I who hold the pillars firm. (NIV)

Psalm 75:3

This psalm is a poem of thanks. The expression we give you thanks repeatedly appears as a sign of emphasis, in expression of sincere gratitude.

The earth may disappear, and even more, the inhabitants of the planet; but there are divine principals that remain eternal. God himself is the sustainer of that moral order.  I sustain your pillars.

Everything around you could fail and even perish. Human institutions could vacillate, but your spiritual life, as a sound and living building, has pillars that affirm it amidst the convulsions of these times.

What sustains spiritual life?  If God sustains your pillars you will see your life emerge triumphant from all the set-backs. You will see that nothing and no one can crush your inner strength.

If He sustains your pillars you will be able to count on the time of victory like the psalmist:  I give you thanks, oh God, I give you thanks. If indeed God sustains your pillars, your life will be a blessing, and an example for many others, because your strength will be evident to everyone’s eyes.

Prayer:  Thank you, our gracious God, for its being you who sustains our life.  Thank you because you continue sustaining the life of our people with pillars of hope and peace. Amen.

LO QUE SOSTIENE MI VIDA

SALMO 75

Cuando tiembla la tierra, con todos sus habitantes,

soy yo quien mantiene firme sus bases

Salmo 75:3

Este salmo es un poema de acción de gracias. La expresión gracias te damos aparece repetida en señal de énfasis, en expresión de sincera gratitud.

Puede desaparecer la tierra, y aun más, los habitantes del planeta, pero hay principios divinos que permanecen eternos. De ese orden moral el mismo Dios es el sostenedor. Yo sostengo sus columnas.

Puede que todo a tu alrededor falle y aun perezca. Puede que las instituciones humanas vacilen; pero tu vida espiritual, como un edificio santo y vivo, tiene columnas que lo afirman en medio de las convulsiones de estos tiempos.

¿Qué sostiene tu vida espiritual? Si Dios sostiene tus columnas, verás tu vida emerger triunfante de todos los contratiempos. Verás que nada ni nadie puede doblegar tu fortaleza interior.

Si Él sostiene tus columnas, podrás cantar como el salmista en el tiempo de la victoria: Gracias te doy, oh Dios, gracias te doy.

Si en verdad Dios sostiene tus columnas, tu vida será una bendición y un ejemplo para muchos otros, porque tu fortaleza será evidente a los ojos de los demás.

Oración: Gracias nuestro buen Dios, por ser tú quien sostienes nuestra vida. Gracias porque sigues sosteniendo la vida de nuestro pueblo con columnas de esperanza y paz. Amén.
