Anniversary of the IPR Church in Taguasco

JOSHUA’S OBEDIENCE

Joshua 1: 5-9

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (NIV)

Joshua 1:7

            There was Joshua, in a decisive moment in his life. Moses had just died, and God indicated that he should assume the new leadership role among the Israelites. It’s certain, his behavior had always been exemplary, and during the years in the desert he had learned a great deal at the side of that great liberator. But this was different. The moment had now arrived for him to stand up in the front row, to carry maximum responsibility.

            God was very clear with Joshua, and he promised him he would always be at his side, that he would help him, that he would give him protection and guide him toward success in all he undertook. What great promises! Everything that we need in our lives. But as a counter effect, God asked him to be valiant, firm, and obedient.

            That is the secret for victory. Because when we are brave, we are fortified to face our own fears, and we undertake new challenges. When we are strong, we can control impulses, temptations, and character weaknesses. When we obey what the Bible teaches, we learn how to behave in each of life’s circumstances. Although Joshua had many fears and did not believe himself capable of doing what God had asked him, he decided to obey and throw himself wholeheartedly into the adventure as someone strong and brave. Thus, he succeeded in seeing the promises God had made completed.

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord for your promises. Amen.

Aniversario de la Iglesia en Taguasco

LA OBEDIENCIA DE JOSUE

Josue 1: 5-9

Solamente esfuérzate y sé muy valiente, para cuidar de hacer conforme a toda la ley que mi siervo Moisés te mandó; no te apartes de ella ni a diestra ni a siniestra, para que seas prosperado en todas las cosas que emprendas

Josué 1:7

            Allí estaba Josué, en un momento decisivo de su vida. Moisés acababa de morir y Dios le indicó que debía asumir como nuevo líder de los israelitas. Es cierto: su conducta siempre había sido ejemplar, y durante los años en el desierto había aprendido muchísimo al lado de aquel gran libertador. Pero esto era diferente. Ahora había llegado el momento de pararse en la primera fila, de ser el máximo responsable.

            Dios fue muy claro con Josué y le prometióó que estaría a su lado, que lo ayudaría, que le brindaríía protección y lo guiaría hacia el éxito en todo lo que emprendiera. ¡Qué grandes promesas! Todos las necesitamos en nuestra vida. Pero como contrapartida, Dios le pidió que fuera valiente, firme y obediente. Esa era el secreto para la victoria. Porque cuando somos valientes nos animamos a enfrentar nuestros propios temores y emprendemos nuevos desafíos. Cuando somos fuertes podemos controlar los impulsos, tentaciones y debilidades del carácter. Cuando obedecemos lo que la Biblia enseña aprendemos cómo comportarnos en cada circunstancia de la vida. Aunque Josué tenía muchos temores y no se creía capaz de hacer lo que Dios le pedíía, decidió obedecer y lanzarse a la aventura como alguien fuerte y valiente. Así logró ver cumplidas las promesas que Dios le había hecho.
