A LIFE OF SERVICE

3^RD JOHN 1:6

I have given you an example; just as I have done, you also must do.

John 13:15 (CEB)

            What does it mean to serve God?  We often listen to this expression in church and don’t always understand what it refers to.  Some people say that only pastors and religious leaders can be called servants of God.  At times people think that service is something for a few special men and women who have something different from the rest.

            When a person receives the love of Christ in his or her life, we say that he or she is born anew.  He believed in the love of God, she repented from her sins, he asked for forgiveness and then she invited Jesus to live in her heart.  Now he is different.  The Holy Spirit is in her life. He is a child of God. 

            The word servant is used in the Bible to speak of the people who are in the service of an important person, someone they call lord.  Jesus is the Lord and we are his servants. Also because a servant dedicates all of his or her time to doing things for God, like preaching in the Church and many other things, all Christians have the opportunity, the joy and the responsibility to serve Jesus. 

            Let us serve God with all that we think, say and do. May people see us as different people, with lives that shows the love of Jesus all the time. 

 

Prayer: Employ me in your service, Lord.  Let me serve you, and serve you pleasantly.  May my life be a life of service to you and to my neighbor.  Amen.

VIDA DE SERVICIO

3 Juan 1:6

Porque ejemplo os he dado, para que como yo os he hecho, vosotros también hagáis.

            ¿Qué significa servir  a Dios? A menudo escuchamos  esa expresión en la Iglesia y no siempre entendemos a qué se refiere. Algunas personas dicen que sólo los pastores y los líderes religiosos se pueden llamar siervos de Dios. A veces la gente piensa que el servicio es algo para unos pocos hombres y mujeres especiales que tienen algo diferente de los demás.

            Cuando una persona recibe el amor de Jesús en su vida se dice que nació de nuevo. Creyó en el amor de Dios, se arrepintió de su pecados, le pidió perdón y entonces lo invitó a vivir en su corazón. Ahora es diferente. El Espíritu Santo está en su vida. Es un hijo de Dios.

            La palabra siervo se usa  en la Biblia para hablar de la gente que está al servicio de una persona muy importante, a quien se le nombra como señor. Jesús es el Señor y nosotros somos sus siervos. Por eso, además de las personas que se dedican todo el tiempo a hacer cosas para Dios, como predicar en la Iglesia  y muchas otras cosas más, todos los cristianos tenemos la oportunidad, la alegría y la  responsabilidad de servir a Jesús.

            Sirvamos a Dios con todo lo que pensamos, decimos y hacemos. Que la gente pueda ver en nosotros personas diferentes, con una vida que muestre todo el tiempo el amor de Jesús.

 

Oración: En tu servicio empléame Señor. Déjame servirte, y servirte con agrado. Que mi vida sea una vida de servicio a ti y a mi prójimo. Amén.
