CHRISTIAN LIFE

Amos 5:12-15

For I know how many are your offenses, and how great your sins. There are those who will oppress the innocent and take bribes and deprive the poor of justice in the courts. (NIV)

Amos 5:12

            To live a life that pleases God does not mean only going to church or trying to be good. The life that pleases him is that which springs from a heart that has faith. In the Bible text, the prophet Amos calls to our attention those who call themselves sons of God but do not demonstrate it in their daily lives. God is just and appreciates justice. He does not want honest people to be mistreated. He does not tolerate bribery and wants those in need to be respected.

            The prophet Amos convenes the people so that they might repent of their sins and lead a different life. In the same way, God convenes us today so that we lead a life of love and fear of him. At times, the people in need are very near us; they could be members of the family, friends, neighbors, church people, or simple acquaintances, and we pretend that we don’t see them. This is not the attitude God expects. On the contrary, he wants us to demonstrate love and support for those who need help. So, look about you. Help the people who need it. Help them by reminding them of the love Jesus has for them. Work for the justice that pleases God.

 

Prayer: O Father, in this instant I want to ask for all the people who find themselves crossing through difficult situations. Place in me the desire and the will to help those we find in our journey. Amen.

VIDA CRISTIANA

Amos 5:12-15

Yo conozco todos sus pecados, conozco sus muchas maldades. Sé  que los jueces aceptan dinero para juzgar a favor de los malvados y en contra de la gente inocente. Por eso el juicio lo ganan los ricos y lo pierden los pobres.

Amós 5:12

            Vivir una vida que agrada a Dios no significa sólo ir a la iglesia o intentar ser bueno. La vida que le agrada es aquella que brota de un corazón que tiene fe. En el texto bíblico, el profeta llama la atención de quienes se decían hijos de Dios, pero que no lo demostraban en su vida diaria. Dios es justo y aprecia la justicia. No quiere que las personas honestas sean maltratadas. No tolera el soborno y quiere que se respete y ayude a los necesitados.

            El profeta Amós convoca al pueblo para que se arrepintiera de sus pecados y llevara una vida diferente. De la misma manera, Dios también nos convoca hoy a que llevemos una vida de amor y temor hacia Él. A veces, las personas en necesidad están muy cerca de nosotros; pueden ser miembros de la familia, amigos, vecinos, personas de la iglesia, o simples conocidos, y hacemos de cuenta de que no las vemos. Esta no es la actitud  que Dios espera. Por el contrario, quiere que demostremos el amor amparando a las personas que necesitan ayuda. Por lo tanto, mire a su alrededor. Ayude a las personas que lo necesitan. Socórralos recordándoles el amor que Jesús tiene por ellos. Trabaje a favor de la justicia que agrada  a Dios.

 

Oración: Oh Padre, en este instante quiero pedirte por todas las personas que se encuentran atravesando por situaciones difíciles. Pon en mí el deseo y la voluntad de ayudar a quienes nos encontremos a nuestro paso. Amén.
