IN PEACE AND FOR PEACE

Luke 2:8-20

Glory to God in the highest heavens, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. (NIV)

Luke 2:14

            On thinking about the Messiah who was to come, Isaiah described him as the Prince of Peace. When Jesus came to the world, he did not come as a military commander. He rejected all intent to proclaim himself King. He lived humbly and peacefully. And finally, he surrendered his body into the hands of his enemies so they might crucify him.    

            The Prince of Peace has said, “Make peace with one another.” It’s necessary that his spirit first prevail in the heart if peace is to reign among individuals, families, and nations.

            Let’s ask God’s forgiveness for our sins. Only then will the objectives that inspire our minds and govern our actions prevail. Only then will we live in a world in which human beings do not fight against others, but rather seek peace and follow it.

 

Prayer: We pray, Lord, for those who fight for peace in all the world. Amen.

EN PAZ Y POR LA PAZ

Lucas 2:8-20

¡Gloria a Dios en las alturas! ¡Paz en la tierra a todos los que gozan de su favor!

Lucas 2:14

            Al pensar en el Mesías que había de venir, Isaías le describió como el Príncipe de Paz. Cuando Jesús vino al mundo no vino como caudillo militar. Desechó todo intento de proclamarse Rey. Vivió humilde y pacíficamente. Por último, entregó su cuerpo en manos de sus enemigos para que le crucificasen.

            El Príncipe de Paz ha dicho: Tened paz los unos con los otros. Es preciso que su espíritu impere primeramente en el corazón, si la paz ha de reinar entre los individuos, las familias y las naciones.

            Supliquemos a Dios el perdón de nuestros pecados. Sólo entonces serán nobles los propósitos que inspiren nuestras mentes y gobiernen nuestras acciones. Sólo entonces viviremos en un mundo en el cual el ser humano no peleará contra otros, sólo buscará la paz y la seguirá.

 

Oración: Oramos, Señor, por los luchadores de la paz en todo el mundo. Amén.
