STRENGTH THAT COMES FROM THE LORD

Psalm 23:1-6

Even  though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil

Psalm 23:4

            I invite you to reread this well-known psalm in the light of Advent. Perhaps many people are so overwhelmed at this time that they don’t even have expectations for Christmas. In life we live through so many anxieties, heartaches and difficult moments. Sometimes we are faced with embarrassing situations and others that we think we will never be able to get out of, such as illness, loneliness, etc.

            At times, we even lose the joy of living.  But Advent is hope. It is an opportunity to look at Mary’s life and recognize that no matter how difficult our burden, God is with us and will fill us with his Light.

            The psalmist invites us to think of God as our refuge and strength. If we ask for his help and place ourselves in his hands, our life will turn towards new horizons.

            Let us raise our eyes to heaven and ask our God to give us enough strength to move forward in the midst of our own valleys of the shadow of death. Let us trust in the strength that comes from God; the strength which we can feel in our being.

 

Prayer: Dear God, help us to strengthen our faith so that we may feel your presence in every minute of our lives. May we live Advent with hope for your birth. Amen.

LA FORTALEZA QUE VIENE DEL SEÑOR

Salmo 23:1-6

Aunque ande en valle de sombra de muerte, no temeré mal alguno

Salmo 23:4

            Les invito a releer este conocido salmo a la luz del Adviento. Quizás muchas personas están tan agobiadas en este tiempo, que ni siquiera guardan expectativas por la Navidad. En la vida nos toca vivir tantas angustias, sinsabores y momentos difíciles. A veces nos enfrentamos a situaciones embarazosas y pensamos que nunca podremos salir de ellas, como son la enfermedad, la soledad, etc.

            En ocasiones, hasta perdemos la alegría de vivir.  Pero Adviento es esperanza. Es una oportunidad de mirar la vida de María y reconocer que por más difícil que sea nuestra carga, Dios está con nosotros y nos llenará con su luz.

            El salmista nos invita a pensar en Dios como nuestro amparo y fortaleza. Si pedimos su ayuda y nos ponemos en sus manos, nuestra vida girará completamente hacia nuevos horizontes.

            Alcemos nuestros ojos al cielo y pidamos a nuestro Dios que nos dé la fuerza suficiente para seguir adelante en medio de nuestros propios valles de sombra de muerte. Confiemos en la fortaleza que viene de Dios, el resultado lo podremos palpar en nuestro ser.

 

Oración: Amado Dios, ayúdanos a afianzar nuestra fe para que podamos sentir tu presencia en cada minuto de nuestra vida. Que podamos vivir el Adviento con esperanza por tu nacimiento. Amén.
