THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE

Matthew 6: 31-33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.

Matthew 6:33 NIV

            Restlessness is an offense to God. Anxiety and worry dishonor God. If my child continually doubted my love, my desire to do him good and my willingness to give him the best, I would surely be very sad.

            Restlessness also harms us, takes away our peace, produces impatience and complaints. Many people are anxious about the difficulties that could happen to them and that often never happen. As we say in good Cuban: “they put the cart before the horse.” Sometimes we would like God to smooth out the obstacles in advance, but He promised to do it step by step. The only thing that belongs to us is the present moment and the way to live well is to live the present hour. To each day, its own hard work is enough. If we would learn this lesson, we would save ourselves a lot of worries. 

            Christ promised us his presence until the end of the world. Let us put our weak hand in his.  Let us trust that He will lead us safely to the end of the journey

 

Prayer: We ask your forgiveness, Lord, for the many times we worry, get overwhelmed and despair. Let us learn to trust you more. Amen.

LA CARRETA DELANTE DE LOS BUEYES

Mateo 63: 31-33

Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas

Mateo 6:33

            La inquietud es una ofensa para con Dios. La ansiedad y las preocupaciones deshonran a Dios. Si mi hijo dudara continuamente de mi amor, de mis deseos de hacerle bien y de mi voluntad dispuesta a darle lo mejor para él, seguro me entristecería mucho.

            La inquietud también nos daña a nosotros, nos quita la paz, produce impaciencia y quejas. Muchas personas están siempre ansiosas con respecto a las dificultades que podrían ocurrirle y que a menudo nunca les acontecen. Como decimos en buen cubano: “ponen la carreta delante  de los bueyes”. A veces quisiéramos que Dios nos allanara los obstáculos por anticipado, pero Él prometió hacerlo paso a paso. Lo único que nos pertenece es el momento presente y la manera de vivir bien es vivir la hora presente. Basta a cada día su propio afán. Si aprendiéramos esta lección nos ahorraríamos muchísimas preocupaciones.

            Cristo nos prometió su presencia hasta el fin del mundo. Pongamos nuestra débil mano en la suya.  Confiemos, Él nos conducirá con seguridad hasta el fin del viaje.

 

Oración: Te pedimos perdón Señor, por las tantas veces que nos preocupamos, nos agobiamos y nos desesperamos. Permítenos aprender a confiar más en ti. Amén.
