OBEYING HIM

Luke 6:46-49

Why do you call me “Lord, Lord,” and do not do what I tell you?

It is easier for Christians to invoke the Name of Jesus in times of trial than to always be obedient to him. Obedience is a virtue that requires strength to cultivate. When we neglect the noble quality of obedience, life deteriorates. Obedience to Christ isn’t a product of aspiration; it must be practiced.

In asking “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I tell you?” Jesus admonishes his disciples to loyally carry out his instructions. That means that no matter how much time, work, and energy it takes, it is necessary to faithfully abide by his divine teachings.

Christ has commanded us to be kind and caring, prayerful, and forgiving. There aren’t many who follow the commands of the Master. Let us clothe ourselves with the mantle of obedience to the divine calling.

 

Prayer: Lord, engrave upon our minds the desire to always be obedient to you without counting the cost. Amen.

OBEDECIÉNDOLO A ÉL

Lucas 6:46-49

¿Por qué me llamáis Señor, Señor, y no hacéis lo que os digo?

Es más fácil para los cristianos invocar el Nombre de Jesús en momentos de prueba, que serle siempre obedientes. La obediencia es virtud que implica esfuerzo para su cultivo. Cuando descuidamos la noble cualidad de la obediencia, la vida se deteriora. La obediencia a Cristo no es producto de la aspiración, hay que practicarla.

Al preguntar: “¿Por qué me llamáis Señor, Señor, y no hacéis lo que os digo?”, Jesús amonesta a sus discípulos a ejecutar con lealtad sus instrucciones. Esto implica que no importa cuánto tiempo, trabajo y energía nos cueste, es menester acatar fielmente sus enseñanzas divinas.

Cristo nos ha ordenado a ser amables y solícitos, dedicados a la oración y perdonadores. No son muchos los que siguen los mandatos del Maestro. Vistámonos con el manto de la obediencia al llamamiento divino.

 

Oración: Señor, graba en nuestras mentes el anhelo de serte siempre obedientes, sin tomar en cuenta lo que nos cueste. Amén.
