THANKS BE TO GOD IN EVERY MOMENT

Esdras 5:12-17

Give thanks to God for everything, for this is what he wants from you.  (NIV)

Thessalonians 5:18

How is it possible to thank God for everything? For what is good and pleasant it is understandable that we should be grateful. But for what we dislike and harms us, is it possible and logical to do so? Perhaps the translation in other versions tells us: give thanks to God in all circumstances. What we are being told is that for every situation we have to find something for which to thank our Heavenly Father.

Evidently, in certain circumstances, it’s difficult to attain that spiritual freedom; but for many it’s been possible.

Human beings are not distinguished for possessing a high degree of gratitude. A Spanish thinker  said that man considers himself entitled to everything and claims to enjoy all the benefits of technology and social progress, for which he has done nothing, and feels gratitude for nothing and no one. In this text, the spirit of gratitude must lead us to be grateful to God, the giver of every good gift, but genuine gratitude will also extend to all those, near or distant, known or unknown, who have been means and instruments in the hands of God so that his blessings reach us.

 

Prayer:  Thank you for giving me the morning; thank you for each new day; thanks for friends; thanks for all who live. Amen.

Celebración de la Iglesia dependiente en Paredes

GRACIAS A DIOS EN TODO MOMENTO

Esdras 5:12-17

Den gracias a Dios por todo, porque esto es lo que él quiere de ustedes…

1 Tesalonicenses 5:18

¿Cómo es posible agradecer a Dios por todo? Por lo  bueno y lo grato resulta comprensible que debemos agradecer. Pero por lo que nos desagrada y nos perjudica ¿es posible y lógico hacerlo? Quizás la traducción en otras versiones nos digan: den gracias a Dios en toda circunstancia. Lo que  se nos quiere decir es que para toda situación hemos de hallar algo por lo cual agradecer al Padre Celestial.

Evidentemente en ciertas circunstancias, es muy difícil alcanzar esta libertad espiritual. Pero para muchos ha sido posible.

El ser humano no se distingue por poseer en alto grado la virtud de la gratitud. Un pensador español decía  que el hombre se considera  con derecho a todo y reclama disfrutar de todos los beneficios de la técnica y del progreso social, por los cuales nada ha hecho, y no siente gratitud por nada y por nadie. En este texto, el espíritu de gratitud ha de llevarnos a ser agradecidos para con Dios, dador de toda buena dádiva, pero una genuina gratitud se hará extensiva también a todos aquellos, cercanos o distantes, conocidos o desconocidos, que han sido medios e instrumentos en las manos de Dios para que sus bendiciones lleguen hasta nosotros.

 

Oración: Gracias por darme la mañana, gracias por cada nuevo día, gracias por mis amigos, gracias por todo ser que vive. Amén.
