PSALM 37:4-5

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart

Psalm 37:4 (NRSV)

Often we pray to God making a request, but we falter in our faith and we doubt that we will receive an affirmative answer. At other times we want an immediate response to our request. We always think that God must respond according to our desires. Prayer is an opportunity to have communion with God, but it is also a form of listening to God. We reverse the correct way of doing things and think that in praying we must pesent a list of our demands to God who will speedily give a detailed answer to our requests. When we don’t receive the requested service, in the time we have allowed the Lord, then we express our discontent.

God always hears us. We have to keep that in mind, but as to the how and the where that he responds to us we do not know. Someone has said, and rightly so, that God replies to our requests “Yes,” “No,” and “Hope.”  God knows what is best for us. Let’s learn to hope and trust in His Word. When we trust in His Word, our faith grows, and we are happy and at peace.

 

Prayer: Lord, teach us to pray. We place our lives in your hands. Sanctify us, and make us poor in spirit. Help us to weep over our guilt and make us meek so that we can conquer the world. Amen.

Deléitate asimismo en Jehová, y él te concederá las peticiones de tu corazón

Salmo 37:4

Muchas veces oramos a Dios haciéndole una petición, pero flaqueamos en nuestra fe y dudamos de una respuesta afirmativa. Otras veces queremos ver la respuesta al momento de nuestra petición. Siempre creemos que Dios ha de respondernos conforme a nuestros deseos. La oración es una oportunidad para tener  comunión con Dios, y es también  una forma de escuchar a Dios. Pero invertimos la forma correcta de las cosas, y pensamos que al orar, debemos presentar una lista de nuestras demandas ante Dios quien, apresuradamente, dará cuenta en detalle de cada una de nuestras peticiones. Y cuando no recibimos el servicio pedido, en el tiempo que le hemos dado de plazo al Señor, entonces expresamos nuestro descontento.

Dios siempre nos oye. Eso es algo que debemos tener muy presente. Pero el cuándo y el cómo ha de respondernos, no lo sabemos. Alguien ha dicho, muy acertadamente, que Dios responde a nuestras peticiones: “Sí”, “No”, “Espera”.  Él sabe lo que nos conviene. Aprendamos a esperar y confiar en Su Palabra. Cuando confiamos en Su Palabra, nuestra fe se acrecienta y nos sentimos felices y en paz.

 

Oración: Señor, enséñanos a orar. En tus manos colocamos nuestra vida. Santifícanos, haznos pobres en espíritu. Ayúdanos a llorar sobre nuestras culpas y vuélvenos mansos para que podamos conquistar el mundo. Amén.
