Anniversary of the Church at Guanabacoa

SHARING HAPPINESS

John 20:1-18

The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.

Psalm 126:3 (NRSV)

Mary Magdalene, on seeing that the stone at the tomb’s entrance had been removed, ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple… It’s the same with us, when we discover something great, immediately our loved ones come to mind, and we rush to share the joy because we want them to be happy too.

We can easily imagine the immediate effect of the “shock wave” caused by this woman and the first two disciples that approached the tomb early that Sunday morning. In a very short time, everyone, the other apostles and the rest of the women that accompanied the Lord, would know of the news. And it was the same with even more who appreciated Jesus in Jerusalem, although they did not follow him so closely. It was the natural consequence of the enthusiasm that it transmitted.

There is no force–there can’t be–capable of containing the triumph of the Son of God at work in you and me. Let us run joyfully to proclaim that the Almighty has done great things in us.

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord, for the immense joy that I feel knowing that you live forever. Be, especially today, with the Church of Guanabacoa, all those there who serve You every day and proclaim Your Word. Amen.

Aniversario  de la Iglesia de Guanabacoa

COMPARTIR UNA ALEGRÍA

Juan 20:1-18

El Señor ha hecho maravillas por nosotros! ¡Qué alegría!

Salmo 126:3

María Magdalena, al ver que la piedra de entrada a la tumba había sido rodada, se fue corriendo a donde estaban Simón Pedro y el otro discípulo… Al igual que nosotros, cuando descubrimos algo estupendo, enseguida nos vienen a la cabeza personas queridas y nos apresuramos a compartir la alegría, porque deseamos que sean también muy felices.

Fácilmente nos podemos imaginar el efecto inmediato de la “onda expansiva” provocada por esta mujer y los dos primeros discípulos que se acercaron al sepulcro a primera hora de aquel domingo. En muy poco tiempo, todos, los otros apóstoles y las demás mujeres que acompañaron al Señor, sabrían la noticia. Y a continuación, otros más que apreciaban a Jesús en Jerusalén, aunque no le siguieron tan de cerca. Era la consecuencia natural de un entusiasmo que se transmite.

No hay fuerza –no puede haberla– capaz de contener el triunfo del Hijo de Dios actuando en ti y en mí. Corramos alegres a  proclamar que el Todopoderoso ha hecho en nosotros grandes cosas.

 

Oración. Gracias Señor, por la inmensa alegría que siento al saber que tú vives para siempre. Acompaña especialmente hoy a la Iglesia de Guanabacoa, a todos los que allí te sirven cada día y proclaman Tu Palabra. Amén.
