GUESTS AT THE BANQUET
Matthew 22:1-14
The servants went out into the street and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
Matthew 22:10 (NIV)
In those places, two invitations were expected when a banquet was organized. The first one requested the attendance of the guest, the second one indicated that everything was ready. Here the King, God, invites three times, and all three times the invitation is refused.
Also, it was customary for guests at a wedding to receive a special garment. It was not even thought that anyone could refuse this garment. It would be an insult to the host, who would assume that the guest did not want to participate in the wedding celebration
Jesus is speaking here of the garment of righteousness that is required to enter God’s banquet in the Kingdom. Christ has provided this garment for every believer, but each person must choose to wear it in order to enter the banquet of the King. God wants us to join Him at His banquet, which will last for eternity. That is why He sends us invitation after invitation.
Prayer: Loving Father, let us recognize your invitation to the banquet, and if we do not succeed immediately, show us many more opportunities until we accept you into our hearts. Amen.

LOS INVITADOS AL BANQUETE
Mateo 22:1-14
