LEARNING AND CHANGING

Ephesians 4.17-21

That is not the way you learned Christ! For surely you have heard about him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus.

Ephesians 4:20-21(NRSV)

We often ask God to change things around us; we long for a familiar, welcoming, peaceful family environment. May our family change its way of thinking, may there be more reconciliation, may circumstances and relationships improve at work, may the boss understand me.

This happens in our lives of knowing God, we continue to insist that everything around us change. We lay responsibility on others and don’t recognize when it is ours, when we are the ones who must change, and we persist in our shell of insensitivity and anger. We resist the action of the Holy Spirit within us, being transformed by God for the good which contributes to our lives, and which contributes to the good of others, just as we have received it from Jesus.

 

Prayer: Lord, may your Holy Spirit guide us towards transformation, to contribute to others, and to recognize when we need to be transformed, releasing from us what harms our lives and others. Amen.

Aprender y cambiar

Efesios 4.17-21

Mas vosotros no habéis aprendido así a Cristo, si en verdad le habéis oído, y habéis sido por él enseñados, conforme a la verdad que está en Jesús.

Efesios 4:20-21

Muchas veces pedimos a Dios que las cosas cambien a nuestro alrededor, anhelamos un entorno familiar, amistoso, acogedor, de paz. Que nuestra familia cambie la forma de pensar, que haya más reconciliación, que en el trabajo mejoren las circunstancia y relaciones, que el jefe me entienda.

Esto sucede en nuestras vidas conociendo a Dios, seguimos insistiendo que todo nuestro alrededor cambie. Depositamos las responsabilidades en los demás y no reconocemos cuándo son nuestras, cuando somos nosotros quienes tenemos que cambiar y persistimos en arrastrar una coraza de insensibilidad y rencores. Nos resistimos a la acción del Espíritu de Dios sobre nosotros, a ser transformados por Dios, por lo bueno que contribuye a nuestras vidas, y que aporta al bien de los demás, como si hemos recibido de Jesús.

 

Oración: Señor, que tu Espíritu Santo nos guíe hacia la transformación, para aportar a otras y otros, y para reconocer cuando debemos ser transformados, soltando de nosotros lo que hace daño a nuestra vida y a otros. Amén.
