WORDS OF LIFE

John 6: 60-69

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

John 6:68 (NIV)

Some had followed Jesus because of the miracles they were able to see, the many amazing signs. But perhaps they couldn’t deeply understand his teachings, and they left him. Jesus asks his disciples, “you do not want to leave, too, do you?” Simon Peter, on behalf of his companions responded to their Master, “Lord, to whom shall we go?”

Your words are words of eternal life. The disciples knew in whom they had placed their trust, he was the true one: “We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” They were convinced that there was no other capable of pronouncing the words that would enliven and fill their spirits.

We, too, receive these words of life. They are encouragement every morning – good news that helps us face the day with courage and strength! They are our daily sustenance.

 

Prayer: Lord, help our lips to speak words of life that will encourage others. Amen.

Palabras de vida

Juan 6: 60-69

Señor, ¿a quién podemos ir? Tus palabras son palabras de vida eterna.

Algunos habían seguido a Jesús por los milagros que podían ver, muchas señales asombrosas. Pero quizás no podían entender de manera profunda sus enseñanzas y le dejaron. Jesús pregunta a sus discípulos: «¿También ustedes quieren irse?» Pedro en representación de sus compañeros respondió a su Maestro: «Señor, ¿a quién podemos ir?».

Tus palabras son palabras de vida eterna. Los discípulos sabían en quién habían depositado su confianza, él era el verdadero: «Nosotros ya hemos creído, y sabemos que tú eres el Santo de Dios». Estaban convencidos que no existía otro capaz de pronunciar palabras que vivificaran y llenaran sus espíritus. Las palabras de Jesús son vida, dan vida espiritual a quienes las escucha, así como la palabra de Dios creó los cielos y la tierra y dio vida a toda criatura.

Nosotros, también recibimos esas palabras de vida. Son nuestro aliento cada mañana. ¡Buenas noticias que nos ayudan a afrontar el día con valor y fuerza! Son nuestro sustento diario.

 

Oración: Señor, ayuda a que nuestros labios pronuncien palabras de vida que alienten a otros. Amén.
