FROM ENTHUSIASM TO SADNESS

Matthew 19: 16-22

Some commandments are sometimes easy to obey, others not so easy.

Putting our trust in wealth can prevent us from entering the Kingdom of God. The rich young man’s dilemma: choosing between earthly riches and heavenly treasure. The more you separate yourself from earthly things the closer you will come to heaven and the more you will find God’s riches.

This one wanted to follow Jesus and went another way. He was attached to his possessions. He had many goods and in the balance the goods won. Riches have the power to lead us to seduction and make us believe that we are in paradise on earth. They take from us the best, hope, and throw us into the worst, corruption. The only way to act is to open the heart, to open the horizon.

 

Prayer: Lord do not allow greed to fill our lives so that we are not able to see the horizon where our hopes are. Amen.

DEL ENTUSIASMO A LA TRISTEZA

Mateo 19: 16-22

Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, y ama al prójimo como a ti mismo.

Algunos mandamientos a veces se nos hacen fáciles de obedecer, otros no tanto…

El depositar la confianza en la riqueza puede impedir entrar en el Reino de Dios. El dilema del joven rico: elegir entre las riquezas terrenales y el tesoro celestial. Mientras más te separes de las cosas de la tierra más te acercarás al cielo y más encontrarás riquezas de Dios.

Este quería seguir a Jesús y se marchó por otro camino ¿El motivo? Estaba apegado a sus bienes. Tenía muchos vienes y en el balance vencieron. Las riquezas tienen el poder de conducirnos a la seducción y hacernos creer que estamos en el paraíso terrestre. Nos quitan lo mejor, la esperanza, y nos lanzan a lo peor, la corrupción. La única forma de obrar es abrir el corazón, abrir el horizonte.

 

Oración: Señor, no permitas que la avaricia colme nuestra vida y no seamos capaces de ver el horizonte donde están nuestras esperanzas. Amén.
