THURSDAY, JANUARY 30th

LIGHT FOR THE WORLD

Mark 4:21-25

He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?”

Mark 4:21 (NIV)

This passage brings to mind an often-sung hymn in communities of faith that goes:

“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

In the same way that the Word of God comes to us and helps us understand it, this is how we should act.

Let us not remain like the lamp in this text, hidden, away from the reach of others and providing little light. Let us do the opposite; let us light the path of our neighbors, being a light for their feet by sharing the teachings that come to us from Jesus.

If God has given us the opportunity to share the Good News, why wouldn’t we do it?

Prayer: We thank you, Lord, for allowing us to be light for the world. Amen.

LUZ PARA EL MUNDO

Marcos 4:21-25

También les dijo: ¿Acaso se trae una lámpara para ponerla bajo un cajón o debajo de la cama? No, una lámpara se pone en alto, para que alumbre.

Este pasaje hace que recordemos un himno bastante cantado en nuestras comunidades de fe y dice:

“Es tu palabra lámpara para mis pies, Señor. Lámpara para mis pies y luz para mi camino.”

De la misma forma en que la Palabra de Dios llega a nosotros y nosotras y nos da discernimiento, es como debemos actuar.

No nos quedemos como la lámpara de la que se habla en el texto, escondidos, fuera del alcance de todos y aportando poca luz. Hagamos todo lo contrario, alumbremos el camino de nuestro prójimo, seamos luz para sus pies compartiendo las enseñanzas que llegan a nosotros a través de Jesús.

Si Dios nos ha dado la oportunidad de compartir las buenas nuevas ¿Por qué no hacerlo?

Oración: Gracias te damos Señor porque nos permites ser luz para el mundo. Amén.
