 DO NOT FEAR

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

God has many attributes, the best known are omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence. He is all-powerful, all-knowing and is always present. Hence, the affirmation of King David, “the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” We have no scarcity, no, your life is sustained by the Holy Trinity. When the hurricane was affecting my town, I was calm at the beginning, but when I began to feel the strong winds that disturbed my soul, this beautiful psalm came to mind, and I said: do not fear in this valley of shadow and death because God is with you, He will not leave you nor will he abandon you. Hurricanes left behind devastation and desolation in past hurricane seasons, but I choose not to complain, but to be thankful, to be filled with courage and to cast away fear. As a beautiful hymn goes: “… let nothing trouble you, let nothing frighten you, he who has God lacks nothing, God alone is enough.”

Prayer: Lord and our God, we cry out for those who suffer the loss of loved ones, for those who suffer from the destruction of their homes, and fields. We pray to be able to serve those in need, filling them with hope, peace and faith. You are our good God and with you we have everything we need to face all kinds of situations. In Your name we pray. Amen.

Salmo 23

El Señor es mi pastor; nada me faltará.

Salmos 23:1

Dios tiene muchos atributos, los más conocidos son la omnipotencia, omnisciencia y omnipresencia, Él es todopoderoso, posee toda sabiduría y siempre está presente. Por eso, la afirmación del rey David, el Señor es mi pastor y nada me faltará. No tenemos ninguna carencia, no, tu vida está sostenida por la Santísima Trinidad. Cuando el huracán estaba afectando mi pueblo, estaba tranquilo al comienzo, pero cuando empecé a sentir fuertes vientos se turbó mi alma, pero a mi mente vino este salmo hermoso, y dije: no temas en este valle de sombra y de muerte porque contigo está Dios, Él no te dejará ni te desamparará. Devastación y desolación dejó los huracanes en la pasada temporada ciclónica, pero yo elijo no quejarme, sino agradecer, llenarme de valentía y desechar el temor. Dice un hermoso himno: “…Nada te turbe, nada te espante, quien a Dios tiene nada le falta, solo Dios basta.”

Oración: Señor y Dios nuestro, clamamos por los que sufren la pérdida de seres queridos, por los que sufren por la destrucción de sus hogares, plantaciones. Clamamos para que podamos servir a los necesitados, llenándoles de esperanza, paz y fe. Tú eres nuestro Dios bueno y contigo tenemos todo lo necesario para enfrentar toda clase de situaciones. En tu nombre oramos. Amén.
