JESUS TEACHES ABOUT DIVORCE

Mark 10: 1-12

What God has joined together, let no one separate.

Mark 10: 9 (NIV)

Marriage, in human history is a symbol of union, with the ideal that it will last “until death do us part.” The Pharisees, always wanting to put Jesus to the test, ask his opinion on the legitimacy of divorce, according to the Law of Moses. Jesus responds starting at the beginning and concludes with a decisive response: That which God has joined together, let no one separate.

The Bible is not a book of science or history; it is a Book of Faith. It is the faith of those who bequeathed to us their thoughts about creation without being witnesses to it, but rather receivers of traditions for meditation that they meditated on, reflected on and transmitted orally to the next generations, until they were able to express them in writing. Jesus goes back to these origins.

Currently, a great number of couples fail in their love projects. Do we really start building from love or do we go for superficialities: homes, economy, possibilities of …? Let us reflect on this.

Prayer: Lord, in our search for happiness, may we always look to that which unites us in Spirit not in material. Amen.

JESÚS ENSEÑA SOBRE EL DIVORCIO

Marcos 10: 1-12

Lo que Dios unió, que no lo separe el hombre.

Marcos 10: 9

El matrimonio, en la historia humana, es símbolo de unión, con el ideal de que perdure “hasta que la muerte los separe”. Los fariseos, siempre queriendo poner a prueba a Jesús, le piden opinión sobre la legitimidad del divorcio, según la Ley de Moisés. Jesús les responde empezando por el comienzo y concluye con una determinante respuesta: Lo que Dios unió, que no lo separe el hombre.

La Biblia no es un libro de ciencias ni de historia, es un Libro de Fe. Es la fe de quienes nos legaron sus pensamientos sobre la creación sin ser testigos de ella, sino receptores de tradiciones que meditaban, reflexionaban, trasmitían oralmente a las nuevas generaciones, hasta que estas pudieron plasmarlas mediante la escritura. A estos orígenes se remonta Jesús.

Actualmente un gran número de parejas fracasan en sus proyectos de amor ¿Empezamos a edificar desde el amor realmente o nos vamos por las superficialidades: casa, economía, posibilidades de...? Reflexionemos.

Oración: Señor, que en nuestra búsqueda de felicidad pongamos siempre la vista en aquello que nos une por espíritu no por materia. Amén.
