JESUS’ RENOWN

Luke 5: 12-16

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Luke 5: 16 (NIV)

At that time, word of Jesus’ miracles was spreading. This passage is about one of the many that he did, that of healing a leper. The Messiah was not looking for fame, and here he shows it once again. He tells the healed man not to tell anyone about it, only to present himself to the priest so that, with his body, he could bear witness that he had been healed, and to be grateful. His faith had healed this man, whose name is not mentioned, and Jesus wanted many people to be healed as well. After this miracle, Jesus went alone to pray, to talk to his Father.

Let us be like our elder brother, let us not seek fame or the approval of others with our actions. Let us help without expecting anything in return, without shouting to the world that we do it, when in reality we are empty inside. Let us always give, because “it is better to give than to receive.”

Prayer: Lord, may you be the shaper of my life. May you illuminate my paths. Be with me always. Give me your hand and guide me on the path of good. Amen.

LA FAMA DE JESUS

Lucas 5: 12-16

Pero Jesús se retiraba a lugares solitarios para orar.

En aquel tiempo corría la voz de los milagros de Jesús. Este pasaje trata sobre uno de los tantos que Él hizo: curar a un leproso. El Mesías no buscaba la fama, aquí lo demuestra una vez más. Le dice al hombre sanado que no lo comentara con nadie, solo que se presentara ante el sacerdote para que con su cuerpo diera testimonio de que había sido sanado, y fuera agradecido. Su fe había curado a este hombre, de quien no se menciona su nombre, y Jesús quería que muchas personas también fueran sanadas. Después de este milagro, Jesús se fue a solas a orar, a hablar con su Padre.

Seamos como nuestro Hermano Mayor, no busquemos la fama ni la aprobación de otros con nuestros actos. Ayudemos sin esperar a cambio, sin gritarle al mundo que lo hacemos cuando en realidad en nuestro interior estamos vacíos. Demos siempre, porque “es mejor dar que recibir”.

Oración: Señor, que seas el moldeador de mi vida. Que ilumines mis sendas. Acompáñame siempre. Dame tu mano y guíame por el camino del bien. Amén.
