CHRISTIAN DUTIES

Romans 12: 9-16

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:10 (NIV)

We often like to demand our rights, but on many occasions, we forget to fulfill our own duties. In Paul’s text, he refers to the duties we must fulfill as Christians.

These verses summarize the heart of the Christian life. If we love others in the same way Christ loves us, we will be willing to forgive. If we experience the grace of God, we will long for others to enjoy it as well. And remember, that grace is an unmerited favor. When we give drink to an enemy, we don’t excuse their mistakes, we acknowledge them, forgive, and love the person, in spite of their mistakes, just as Christ did with us.

In love, everything is possible. Love must be the guiding principle in Christian relationships, not only between brothers and sisters in the faith, but also with enemies. Paul mentions many specific Christian duties, but love constitutes the dominant note of his exhortations.

 

Prayer: Loving Father, give us the wisdom to fulfill all the Christian duties that you have taught us, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

DEBERES CRISTIANOS

Romanos 12: 9-16

Amaos como hermanos los unos a los otros, dando mutuamente preferencia y respeto

Romanos 12:10

Muchas veces nos gusta exigir nuestros derechos, pero en muchas ocasiones se nos olvida cumplir con nuestros deberes. En el texto Pablo hace referencia a los deberes que debemos cumplir como cristianas y cristianos.

Estos versículos resumen el meollo de la vida cristiana. Si amamos a alguien de la misma manera que Cristo nos ama, estaremos dispuestos a perdonar. Si hemos experimentado la gracia de Dios, anhelaremos que otros también la disfruten. Y recuerden, la gracia es un favor inmerecido. Cuando damos de beber a un enemigo, no excusamos sus errores, los reconocemos, los perdonamos y amamos a la persona a pesar de sus errores, tal como Cristo lo hizo con nosotros.

Para el amor todo es posible, el amor debe ser el principio mentor en las relaciones cristianas, no sólo entre los hermanos y hermanas en la fe, sino también para con los enemigos.  Pablo menciona muchos deberes cristianos específicos, pero el amor constituye la nota dominante de sus exhortaciones.

 

Oración: Padre amado danos la sabiduría para cumplir con todos los deberes cristianos que tú nos has enseñado, en el nombre de Jesucristo, amén.

“God is always there”

“I sought the Lord and He answered me…”

Psalm 34:4 y Isaiah 66:3 (NIV)

My father was always very special to me because of all the love and tenderness with which he raised me. When he physically departed, I was by his side caring for him. I read the Bible to him and ran my hand through his hair, kissed his forehead and prayed. But until that moment, I had not realized just how close God was, and that he is truly a living God of love.

Something occurred within me, that reminded me of the Lord’s Prayer, which I had learned by heart when I was a girl, and I prayed it once more. Instantly, I could see the great God we have, filling my father with much Peace and so, he departed peacefully from this world.

I left that hospital room and looked for a place to sit down under the starry, early morning sky. A very soft breeze wrapped itself around me and an almost imperceptible drizzle of rain touched me. There was God in a sweet caress, telling me: you are not alone, I am with you, I love you.

 

Prayer: Our Father, thank you for your great, unconditional love for your children. I pray for your mercy and compassion for those who suffer the loss of a loved one. Amen.

Aniversario IPR de Nueva Paz

“Dios siempre está ahí”

“Busqué a Jehová y Él me oyó…”

Salmo 34, 4 y Isaías 66, 3

Mi padre fue siempre alguien muy especial para mí por todo el amor y ternura con que me educó. Al partir físicamente, yo estaba junto a él cuidándolo. Le leía la Biblia y le pasaba la mano por sus cabellos, besaba su frente y oraba. Pero hasta ese momento me había percatado de la cercanía de Dios, y  que es realmente un Dios vivo, de amor.

Algo ocurrió dentro de mí, que recordé el Padre Nuestro, que había aprendido de memoria, de niña y ore una vez más. Al instante pude constatar a ese Dios tan grande que tenemos, llenando a mi padre de mucha Paz y así partió apaciblemente de este mundo.

Salí de aquella sala de Hospital, busqué un lugar para sentarme bajo el cielo estrellado de la madrugada, una brisa muy suave me envolvía y una llovizna casi imperceptible me tocó. Ahí estaba Dios en una dulce caricia, diciéndome: No estás sola, estoy contigo, yo te amo.

 

Oración: Padre Nuestro, gracias por tu gran amor incondicional por tus hijos. Ruego por tu misericordia y compasión para aquellos que sufren la pérdida de un ser querido. Amén.

God’s forgiveness works in our hearts

Matthew 6:14 and 1 Peter 3:9

“for if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Before I knew Christ, before he entered my life, I was a person filled with hate and remorse. And the saddest part is, that I was proud to be that way, of my good memory so as not to forget the offenses received.

My daughter, who has been going to Church for a long time and loved the Lord, told me on several occasions, “mami, you will really know the Lord one day, and the first thing He will do, if you let him, will be to cleanse your heart of so many grudges.”

I, in my ignorance, would laugh and say, no one is going to change that. But my daughter constantly prayed to God for this. Today I have a healed and healthy heart, without any traces of bitterness; goodbye to resentments. Today I confess my love and respect for those who I know don’t love me, and I try to be a testimony to those around me of God’s work in my life. God heals willing hearts, willing to change and to forgive.

 

Prayer: Lord, may we have the willingness in our hearts to heal, to be transformed and to forgive. Amen.

El perdón de Dios obra en nuestros corazones

“porque si perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas, os perdonará también a vosotros vuestro Padre celestial”

Mateo 6, 14 y 1Pe 3, 9

Antes de conocer a Cristo, antes de acercarme, yo era una persona llena de odio, remordimientos y lo más triste es que sentía orgullo de ser así, de mi buena memoria para no olvidar las ofensas recibidas.

Mi hija, que ya hacía tiempo iba a la Iglesia y amaba al Señor, en varias ocasiones me dijo: - mami tu conocerás realmente al Señor un día, y lo primero que Él hará, si se lo permites, será limpiar tu corazón de tantos rencores.

Yo en mi ignorancia me reía y decía, eso no lo va a cambiar nadie. Pero mi hija oraba constantemente a Dios por esto. Hoy tengo un corazón sano, saludable, sin vestigios de amarguras, adiós los resentimientos. Hoy confieso que amo y respeto a aquellos que se, que no me aman, e intento ser testimonio para quienes me rodean de la obra de Dios en mi vida. Dios sana los corazones dispuestos, dispuestos a cambiar, a perdonar.

 

Oración: Señor, que tengamos la disposición en nuestros corazones de sanar, de ser transformados y perdonar. Amén.
