BEING WITNESSES IS BEING IN COMMUNION

John 15: 26–16,4A

You also are to testify because you have been with me from the beginning.

John 15: 27 (NRSV)

We are summoned to be witnesses of God’s love to all of creation and to be part of that great mission of announcing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Chirst. What does being witnesses mean? Witnesses are those who give oral testimony about some action or about some person; In the case of Jesus, he also asks us to be able to declare ourselves witnesses of him with our daily actions.

At times we can feel that being witnesses to Jesus is difficult in the midst of a world which daily summons us to be centered in individualism and to forget about our neighbor. The daily exercise of life takes us away from our willingness to carry a message of hope and love. Nevertheless, our Lord invites to be in communion with him as an essential element, and to wait for the strength and momentum of the Holy Spirit to be his witnesses wherever we may be and in the mdist of whatever circumstance.

 

Prayer: God of all mercy, we give you thanks that you have called us to be your witnesses to all the world; we pray that you will strengthen us on the way so that we may be better witnesses of your love. Amen.

SER TESTIGOS, ES ESTAR EN COMUNIÓN

Pero también ustedes darán testimonio, porque están conmigo (…)

Estamos convocados a ser testigos del amor de Dios a toda la creación y ser parte de esa gran misión de anunciar la Buena Noticia del Evangelio de Jesucristo. ¿Qué significa ser testigos? Testigos son los que dan testimonio de palabra sobre alguna actuación o sobre alguna persona; en el caso de Jesús también nos pide que podamos declararnos sus testigos con nuestro accionar cotidiano.

En ocasiones podemos sentir que ser testigos de Jesús es difícil en medio de un mundo que nos convoca cada día a centrarnos en las individualidades y olvidarnos del prójimo. El ejercicio cotidiano de la vida nos aleja de nuestra disposición de llevar un mensaje de esperanza y amor. Sin embargo, el Señor nos invita a estar en comunión con Él, como elemento esencial, y esperar la fuerza e impulso del Santo Espíritu para ser sus testigos donde quiera que estemos y en medio de cualquier circunstancia. 

 

Oración: Dios de toda misericordia, te damos gracias porque nos has llamado a ser tus testigos a todo el mundo; te pedimos que nos fortalezcas en el camino para ser mejores testigos de tu amor. Amén.
