SECURITY

John 10:27

My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.

John 10:27 (NRSV)

I read once that babies recognize their mothers’ voice while they are still in the womb. In speaking to them, they can transmit calm, since pregnancy creates a bond that is very special. When they are born, the mothers speak to them and can understand their joy at hearing them.

Jesus calls us, and we can recognize his voice above any other. We belong to him. It’s an intimate relationship; he knows us as we know him. We will never be separated from his fold. There is so much reasuarance in knowing that that relation of shepherd and sheep is forever.

We can get distracted and sometimes misstep and fall behind. The Shepherd will call, call our name and we will run into his loving arms. We can always follow Jesus who helps us and provides  us with safety. His strong arm sustains and accompanies us.

 

Prayer: Good Shepherd, you have been able to give your life for me. Who can separate me from you? Thank you for that security. Amen.

SEGURIDAD

Mis ovejas reconocen mi voz, y yo las conozco y ellas me siguen.

Leí una vez que los bebés reconocen la voz de su madre desde que están en el vientre. Al hablarles ella les puede transmitir tranquilidad, desde el embarazo se crea un vínculo que llega a ser muy especial. Cuando nacen, las madres les hablan y se puede percibir su alegría al escucharlas.

Jesús nos llama, podemos reconocer su voz por encima de cualquier otra. Es la voz del Buen Pastor. Le pertenecemos, es una relación íntima, Jesús nos conoce y ama, así como nosotros le conocemos.  Jamás seremos separados de su redil. ¡Hay tanta confianza al saber que esta relación de pastor y oveja es para siempre!

Nos podemos distraer y en ocasiones equivocar nuestros pasos, quedarnos atrás. El Pastor llamará, dirá nuestro nombre y corremos a sus brazos de amor. Siempre podemos seguir a Jesús, quien nos cuida, y nos da seguridad. Su mano fuerte nos sostiene y acompaña.

 

Oración: Buen Pastor, has sido capaz de dar tu vida por mí, ¿Quién me apartará de ti? Gracias por esa seguridad. Amén.
