ATTAINING ETERNAL LIFE

Mark 10:17-27

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.

Mark 10:25 (NIV)

When we hear this biblical passage, we sometimes think: “this is not talking about me, I’m not rich.” We approach Jesus, but we are unwilling to take on the commitment and the responsibility of following him because we are attached to so many things.

In these times when the value of what one possesses is more important than human values, and people are valued for what they have and not for who they are, we are challenged by Jesus.

To sell everything one has, is not to give away all our possessions; it is to get rid of that which distances us from reality and feeds our egos, creating barriers that distance us from God.

To attain eternal life, there are paths that are not impossible but that demand trust in those who can make the impossible possible.

 

Prayer: Lord, let us understand the proclamation of your message. Father, we want so much, and we need so little, guide us and forgive us. Amen.

ALCANZAR LA VIDA ETERNA.

Marcos 10:17-27

Es más fácil para un camello pasar por el hueco de una aguja, que para el rico entrar en el Reino de Dios.

Marcos 10:25

Al escuchar este pasaje bíblico, a veces pensamos: “esto no es conmigo, yo no soy rico.” Nos acercamos a Jesús pero no estamos dispuestos a asumir el compromiso y la responsabilidad de seguirlo porque estamos apegados a muchas cosas.

En estos tiempos en que el valor de lo que se posee se potencia más que los valores humanos y se valora a las personas por lo que tienen y no por lo que son, estamos retados por Jesús.   

Vender todo lo que tienes no es despojarnos de todos los bienes, es despojarnos de lo que nos distancia de la realidad y alimenta nuestro ego, creando barreras que nos alejan de Dios.

Para alcanzar la vida eterna hay caminos que no son imposibles pero que demanda confianza en quienes pueden hacer posible lo imposible.

 

Oración: Señor permítenos comprender la proclamación de tu mensaje. Padre queremos tanto y necesitamos tan poco, guíanos y perdónanos. Amén.
