LET US RAISE OUR VOICES

Acts 25: 13-21

When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected. Instead, they had some points of dispute about their own religion and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive.

Acts 25:18-19 (NIV)

When we remember the images of our childhood in the temples, it is common that it is a memory full of joy, because how can we talk about God and not feel all that he fills within us? The path that follows God is not always comfortable, but rather complex, and full of clashes because it is not governed by social stigmas, but by the law of love. Paul’s life is an example of preaching his principles of justice and defending them with his life if necessary. May our churches today be places of justice and hope. May our mouths not be silent when a life is enclosed in dogmas. May speaking of the Jesus who lives also mean mentioning those who are rejected and excluded, and may no fear of authority speak louder than the words of love.

 

Prayer: God, give us the courage to raise our voices and proclaim your love that extends to everything and everyone. Amen.

ALCEMOS TODOS NUESTRAS VOCES

Hechos 25: 13-21

Los acusadores que se presentaban junto a él, no le hicieron cargo de ninguno de los delitos que yo sospechaba. Se trataba solo de ciertas discusiones acerca de su religión y de un tal Jesús, ya muerto, que Pablo aseguraba que está vivo.

Hechos 25:18-19

Cuando recordamos las imágenes de nuestras infancias en los templos, es común que aquella sea una memoria llena de alegría, pues: ¿cómo hablar de Dios y no sentir todo lo que llena dentro? El camino que sigue a Dios no siempre es cómodo, más bien complejo, y lleno de encontronazos porque no se rige bajo estigmas sociales, sino bajo la ley del amor. La vida de Pablo es un ejemplo de predicar sus principios de justicia y defenderlos con la vida si es preciso. Que sean nuestras iglesias hoy espacios de justicia y de esperanza. Que no hagan silencio nuestras bocas cuando una vida sea encerrada en dogmas, hablar del Jesús que vive sea también mencionar a quienes son rechazos, y excluidos, y que el miedo a ninguna autoridad hable más alto que las palabras de amor.

 

Oración: Dios, danos el valor de alzar la voz y proclamar tu amor que a todo y todos se extiende, Amén.
