WHO IS JESUS FOR US?

Luke 9:18–21

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am? “Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”

Luke 9:20

Among the greatest challenges of being Christians is to tell the people around us about our faith in God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. If in this journey it is important to know how to tell people about Jesus, it is also essential that we ask ourselves what he means to us.

The disciples tell the master what they say about him, what people in their imagination feel when they see or hear him, nothing is alien to the Lord; but what do those close to him, his friends, those who share his table, his joys, his work, his sorrows, his difficulties, say about him? This is the question that continues to challenge us today.

Peter responds correctly and Jesus encourages him for having had the ability to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit who had revealed himself to him. Let us respond with courage and let us allow ourselves to be guided by the comforter so that we can respond each day.

Prayer: Amid the questions of our lives, beloved God, allow us to always hear your voice and guide us to respond correctly and with courage. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

¿QUIEN ES JESÚS PARA NOSOTROS?

Lucas 9, 18 – 21

“Y vosotros, ¿Quién decís que soy? – les preguntó. Pedro le respondió – El Mesías de Dios”.

Lucas 9, 20

Entre los mayores desafíos de ser cristianos y cristianas está contarles a las personas que nos rodean sobre nuestra fe en el Dios Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Si en este camino es importante saber contar sobre Jesús, es también esencial que nos preguntemos que significa para nosotros.

Los discípulos le cuentan al maestro lo que dicen de él, lo que la gente en su imaginario siente cuando lo ve o lo escucha, nada es ajeno para el Señor; pero que dicen los cercanos, los amigos, los que comparten la mesa, las alegrías, el trabajo, las tristezas, las dificultades ¿Quién decís que soy? Es la pregunta que hoy nos sigue interpelando.

Pedro responde acertadamente y Jesús le estimula por haber tenido la capacidad de escuchar la voz del Santo Espíritu que le había revelado. Respondamos con valentía y dejémonos guiar por el consolador para poder responder cada día

Oración: En medio de las interrogantes de nuestra vida, amado Dios, permítenos escuchar siempre tu voz y guía para responder acertadamente y con valentía. Por Jesucristo nuestro Señor. Amén.

HEARING ABOUT JESUS INVITES US TO MEET HIM

Luke 9: 7–9

Now Herod heard about what was going on (…) But Herod said, “I beheaded John. Who, then, is it that I hear such things about.  And he tried to see him.

Luke 9:7 and 9 (NIV)

We can remember the time when someone told us about Jesus, the son of the God of love. Surely they told us of their personal experience, of how his infinite love worked marvelously in their lives

In the same way, King Herod was impressed by everything that was said about Jesus of Nazareth, his way of acting, his preaching, his attachment to the weakest, his power and authority; he could not believe that what he heard was real, if he had ordered the elimination of his greatest threat since the prophecy of John the Baptist: John the Baptist

Hearing about Jesus invites us, encourages us, puts us on the road to meet him, makes us want to see him and experience his love, care and closeness.

Prayer: Father of goodness, we thank you for those who encouraged us in our desire to meet your son through their personal experiences. We ask you to strengthen us on this path and allow us to always be in your presence. Amen.

ESCUCHAR DE JESÚS NOS INVITA A ENCONTRARNOS CON ÉL

Lucas 9, 7 – 9

"El rey Herodes oyó hablar de Jesús y de todo lo que hacía (…) Por eso tenía ganas de ver a Jesús”.

Lucas 9, 7 y 9b

Podemos recordar el momento en que alguien nos habló de Jesús el hijo del Dios de amor. Seguramente que nos contaron de su experiencia personal, de cómo su amor infinito obró maravillosamente en sus vidas.

De la misma forma el rey Herodes queda impresionado de todo lo que se comenta de Jesús de Nazareth, de su forma de actuar, de su predicación, de su apego a los más débiles, de su poder y autoridad; no podía creer que fuera real lo que escuchaba, si él había ordenado la eliminación de su mayor amenaza desde la profecía a: Juan el Bautista.

Escuchar de Jesús nos invita, nos anima, nos coloca en el camino de encontrarnos con él, da ganas de verlo y poder experimentar también de su amor, cuidado y cercanía.

Oración: Padre de bondad gracias te damos por quienes nos animaron en el deseo de encontrarnos con tú hijo por medio de sus experiencias personales. Te pedimos nos fortalezcas en ese camino y permitas estar siempre en tú presencia. Amén.

THE SPIRIT OF GOD LIVES WITHIN

GALATIANS 5: 18-25

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness and self-control… (NIV)

Galatians 5: 22-23a

When God created the human being, he breathed his breath into each person, gave them life, and allowed his Spirit to dwell in each person. In this act of God lies the greatest value of our humanity. It comes precisely from God, from his Spirit, who never leaves us so that we may manifest his fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, and humility.

Besides being a unique gift, believing that the Spirit of God dwells in each and every one of us, implies a share of responsibility. It is not enough to experience the sensation of feeling surrounded, inhabited by the divine spirit, it is necessary to allow him to guide us to develop those qualities and feelings, which in the text, the apostle names as fruits.

Let us take this day as an invitation to think about which of those qualities and feelings we should cultivate with greater emphasis in our lives, so that the Holy Spirit may abound in them and around us.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for the gift of life; allow your Spirit to manifest itself in us and we may deliver its fruits through our daily actions. Amen.

EL ESPÍRITU DE DIOS HABITA DENTRO

Gálatas 5: 18-25

En cambio, lo que el Espíritu produce es amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, amabilidad, bondad, fidelidad, humildad y dominio propio...

Gálatas  5: 22-23a

Cuando Dios creó al ser humano, sopló su aliento, le otorgó la vida, y permitió que su Espíritu habitara en cada persona. En este acto de Dios reside el valor mayor de nuestra humanidad; proviene precisamente de Dios, de su Espíritu, que no se aparta nunca para que manifestemos sus frutos: amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, amabilidad, fidelidad y humildad.

Creer que el Espíritu de Dios habita en cada uno y cada una, además de ser un regalo único, implica una cuota de responsabilidad; no basta experimentar la sensación de sentirnos envueltos, habitadas por la rúa divina; es necesario permitir que nos guíe para desarrollar esas cualidades y sentimientos, que en el texto el apóstol nombra como frutos.

Tomemos este día como una invitación a pensar en cuáles de esas cualidades y sentimientos, debemos cultivar con mayor énfasis en nuestra vida para que el Espíritu Santo sobreabunde en ella y alrededor nuestro.

Oración: Gracias, Padre, por el regalo de la vida; permite que tu Espíritu se manifieste en nosotros y podamos entregar sus frutos mediante nuestras acciones cotidianas. Amén.
